2002 1 Report post Posted July 25, 2005 Targa ? - No a gravel rally car (hence the ride height), although it's pictured with tarmac wheels & tyres

I like that white with the stripes. Is is turbo?
2002 1 Report post Posted July 25, 2005 Turbo ? Alas no - it's a n/a M10 with an E30 318 inlet manifold & Link ECU, currently the rest of the engine is fairly stock. I've got another couple of engines to build up with a bit more power but I need to sort out the handling first. I'm running E30 325 front brakes on modified 2002 struts, the whole rear subframe is also from a E30. Ive got a 325 LSD to go in to it but the ratio is a bit high for a rally car, I believe there is a company in Perth that can make custom ratios for it. Currently it's got a 318 diff with 4.44 ratio which I'll probably weld up.
bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) Yeah thats right but i dont have an address to contact them. You send your old diff and they rebuild it to what ratio you want and they can turn it into a LSD from open diff aswell. if its the same company i have in mind. o for awesome!!! These guy's here:http://www.bmauto.iinet.net.au/index.html The '02 looks too nice to use on gravel, but it would awesome fun!! Are you going to head up to Taupo for the 2wd & Classic rally laterin the year??
2002 1 Report post Posted July 25, 2005 I doubt if I'll have it sorted for a full rally until next year. I plan to do some hill climbs later this year. The first major event is likely to be the Possum Bourne Memorial Rallysprint around March 2006. The built has taken far too long - I'm not sure if I remember how to drive. I don't want to stick it on it's roof 1st time out. (Like I did with the last car)
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted July 25, 2005 If you do want to do a rally though the Classic/2wd ones are a bit more relaxed than the others, Sam & I did the Hawkes bay classic earlier this year (2nd rally) and it was really good, except for the offroad excursion aye Sam!!! Rallying is prolly the hardest motorsport to "learn" (for lack of a better word), 'cause you can't get any practise time, you just have to do it and learn as you go, Sam could comment on that better than me, but even the co-driver seat is a daunting place the first few times. Best of luck though, Just keep it real and remember: "I don't want to stick it on it's roof 1st time out" The front/rear & sides are fair game though

2002 1 Report post Posted July 28, 2005 What ?, are you telling me there was a car in those pictures ?. Although I must say getting that engine in must of been an exercise, theres not that much extra room in 2002 engine bay particularly in length
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2005 Pics of the exhaust system should be given to me over the week-end. All going well.
