Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Hi guys. Have scored a stainless rear Eisenmann muffler for an E39 540i from a friend that had it sitting about in his shed for ages. Obviously it won't be a straight bolt up fit to the 325i, but will it be able to be modified to accommodate the twin pipe entry? Or failing that, would anyone here be interested in it? Looking at the Eisenmann Linky website they got for 800 pound (!!) new, does anyone have an idea what might be a fair price for it? TIA Edited March 24, 2013 by Ahmedsinc
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) links broken. but i call first dibs on it if you decide you cant use it... ill make it work unfortunately for me though, looking at their website, looks like it will be do-able to mod to suit E36 Edited March 24, 2013 by _Ethrty-Andy_

Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted March 24, 2013 Just given it a quick going over with the 3M pads. Other than tar spots it looks like it's near new. Again, indications of value please lads
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Mmm very nice. I recall the largest space available in an E36 shell for a rear muffler is something like 250mm-300mm wide... that looks a fair bit wider. I had to have my tire well removed & replaced with flat ribbed steel to fit larger mufflers on both sides. Edited March 24, 2013 by Michael.

tangalife 1 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 Is it as a simple as chopping off your current mufflers and fitting this one on?
jay^ 1 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 if it was that simple do you think there would be a thread about it ??
Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Is it as a simple as chopping off your current mufflers and fitting this one on? Its a slip - on style fitting. Just need a 75mm band clamp to secure to your existing exhaust * Assuming you're starting with a 540i. Not an E36 (dammit!!) zara 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Bumping this up a little, I bought the muffler and tried getting it fitted. Turns out it's made for the non-motorsport bumper. The muffler won't fit my car unless the msport bumper is cut, won't clear the tip exit. I placed the muffler under a standard E39 and it fits perfectly. So now it's for sale! It most likely will fit any non-msport E39 sedan as it seems to fit perfectly on a 525i
Eagle 1661 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 Looking thru the Remus catalog all their mufflers weren't compatible with M-tec rear skirt either.
Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 really think you should just modify the bumper to suit mate. these mufflers are uncommonly rare in new zealand, and for the sake of carving out stuff all plastic (which only the most pedantic of enthusiasts would notice) it seems to me an acceptable compromise. If you're anything like me you'll kick yourself if you let the opportunity pass just my 2 cents
