recomendations for e36 m3 3L front shocks

Recommended Posts

i have to fit some new front shocks to this 93 m3.

for a wof

left one was leaking and knocking

right one was seized

what experiences have people had

can get genuine boge/sachs ones like whats in there now.

or

koni 87 series direct replacement type

munroe reflex direct replacement type (have similer type in my wifes e36 328i wagon and they ride quite well)

or upgraded bilstein b6 type (i think)

car is just for resale or as my new runnabout to replace the 328i coupe

, not looking at tracking (well dont think so at the moment)

have the e28 for that sort of use.

whats your thoughts .

cheers brent

ps. and no it doesn't have those silly lights fitted anymore

Koni or Bilstein if the budget allows, otherwise I'd just run with OEM. Never really been too keen on Monroes, they don't seem to last like factory / euro parts.

Been meaning to ask how the M is coming along :)

I just bought a complete set of Koni Srt.t shocks from shox.com for $650 which included shipping and gst. Ive been wanting to try them for awhile now as they are half the price of adjustables and im real impressed with them for the price, they're nice and firm( bit fimer than my oem boge sports) but still comfortable a ride.

After using Koni's and Bilsteins on various cars Koni imo are superior and would probably would probably work out cheaper than most options at the moment

The thought of turning my touring into a m3 touring had crossed my mind...

I'm surprised your not doing it with one of yours.

e34 shocks will be cheaper as the fronts are just inserts , where as the fronts on a e36 have all sorts of brackets and spring platforms etc welded to them.

i can get the koni's for about $466

boges at $750

bilsteins at $820

munroe at $350

Yeah no doubt but was more aimed at how cheap they are atm compared to others as you have listed above. If koni's are $466 then seems the obvious choice

ibboostn: Munroes probably handle fine compared to worn shocks but its well known they are inferior

If you are feeling handy, you can convert your blown struts to take inserts.

Plenty of "how to's" on the interweb.

If you are keeping it, it may be worth while, as you can get a better insert shock for the same $$ as a replacement strut...

food for thought.

Bilstein B8s in my E36 were $365ea from Adens Tyres, bumpy for an everyday car
