MISS BM 712 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 I can't help but think there is more to the story than comes across. And I can't help but think how slack most of the local mechanics around here are... As soon as you tell them bushes need replacing on an E38 they run and hide. Funny how I never had problems like this with my E30 (which was slightly modded I should mention) or any two of my E36s... Just my E38.. hmm Is there something about them I should know about? Not much more to the story than a dissapointed car owner who couldn't rely on any of the local mechanics to do the work, and has to go over to the next area to do it... Ray was more than happy to deal with my E38, so why shouldn't of any the others...

westy 614 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Amber, can we make your sig a bit smaller please? 'bout 1/4 what it is now?
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Which Pitstop did you visit? They are all capable of doing this very easy job. Any backyard mechanic can do it. Would love to know what their reasons for turning it down were. Maybe you should ask just to clarify the situation. Be straight up with them.

Silverdale, John there does everything for me, he did my starter motor and then offered help when I did my brake rotors. Hes amazing, but turned down this job, said its a pain in the ass to do and best was to see what other mechanics might be interested.. He did my wof, so thats where the mission started. By the sounds of the way everyone was going, its a pain in the ass job for this certain car? Yet I found a DIY on another forum making it look easy.. Maybe their all just scared of bmws lol

Driftit 2078 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 I past you going up Oteha Valley road earlier on. A mate and occasional forum user on here owns Pitstop Albany and Grey Lynn. If Ray is ever not able to help pay them a visit. They just did all the subframe bushes for my E30.

Maybe their all just scared of bmws lol I wouldn't even bother to continue to wonder why people don't want to work on your car. Sure, they could work on 10 corolla's in the time it takes to replace your rear bushes, and that's up to them. Bmw's aint the easiest car for an average mechanic, and they wont want to work on it. But why would you want an average mechanic? Have a look at some of the insane stuff Ray manages to complete in his... (place doesn't quite hit the spot) and why would you go anywhere else? I would rather take my car to a place where modifications are the rule not the exception, because any standard job on an E38 must be bliss in comparison. Just my 2c, but I would rather take my car to a place where they actually enjoy looking at ways of finding 'fixes' for the car rather than working out the psychology of the driver. yng_750 247 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 pitstop hamilton pushed the front arm bushes in on my e38 couple of years back. they crushed the center piece of alloy in the press and bent it all to hell. Had to drill it out straight to get a bolt in but then it didnt seat on the car well and every month or so would start moving and make a horrible moaning noise, had to keep re torquing it up i hit them up when i went to pick up the arms and they just shrugged it off, even charged me more than quoted. MISS BM 712 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 Because I own a 7 Series, it ain't as easy to fix or find someone willing to do.. Car is now awesome again and woffable (thank the heavens) and all thanks to Ray and the boys at HellBM Went out of their way to help me and my car out (and they normally don't do E38s), and did the job (not just the bushes but more) in less than a day. Awesome service, and awesome people, and the price was perfect. Don't think I will be going anywhere else first before doing a precheck there - Big thanks
