Phil-540i 166 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 and to a 1990's Hilux 4WD - stick the lastest CRD motor in it - then you'd have power, economy, & good off-road ability. Its the electronics that's the biggest hassle in amongst it all - I know of the odd older Landcruiser around that's had the lastest CRD V8 motor transplanted into them, making an awesome unit....... Interesting article re the Merc - note how both kw's, & torque have both tripled from its OE motor......... Diesel technology is changing all the time - on the new 2.2 CRD Mazda 6, the compression ratio is down to 14-1 now...........creating less internal stresses, quitter motor, etc etc.

Apex 693 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 Both are mean conversions. Scary to think a modem 2.0 Diesel economy engine has more power and double the torque of E30 M3.
