Zadkiel 41 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 Welcome, if you find that you prefer driving the 325i for some crazy reason I'll take that pesky CS off your hands for you.
earon 32 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) thanks again guys, yeah Graham they do indeed come with the manual gearbox, mind you the smg is absolutely amazing and it is sad to admit but BMW had finally solved the SMG issues by 05..(took them bloody long enough) and since the CS were the last of that amazing breed they seem to free of issues but I've had a tuning company fiddle with my entire car software while it lived in the uk with the previous owner..and it's a tad more angry then a normal M3 makes just over 300hp at the rear wheels..(I believe redline is slightly increased as well) so an approx 370hp made by the motor .. (rides to willing and brave bimmersport members are always welcome) haha @ Zadkiel, I'll definitely keep that in mind wow you've got a lotus elise!! i'm a big fan!! actually just generally you guys have bloody amazing cars! earon 32 Report post Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Nice M3 !. Welcome to the 300 plus club. thanks mate.. just working out a full supersprint exhaust for the car, so hopefully another 20-25 hp (as stated by supersprint once it's had a tune) and the beautiful noise out of that Italian exhaust hopefully someone wants to sell an immaculate E39 m5 in the near future I'd love to add to the garage and sell the 325i Have you looked at adding much to your e46 m3?? I can't possibly think of changing anything besides the lack of growl from the exhaust tone Edited November 25, 2013 by DSCOFF
CSET 583 Report post Posted November 26, 2013 Which rear muffler are you looking at? From what I hear, the options are very different in terms of noise output. Mine's running the 'lightweight race' one below; aside from being a tad loud on start-up, no complaints from me! http://www.supersprint.com/en/IT/prod-c-274-7149-8758-bmw_e46_m3_32i_coupC3A92Fcabrio__01_E28093E280BA_lhd__rhd.aspx Are you looking to replace the cats & headers too? I may have missed it above, but is yours actually manual? If so, replacing the standard clutch stop with an aftermarket adjustable one makes a heck of a difference. Lots of threads on the net of others doing the same - and it's a simple mod. I haven't done a write-up on this one because it really is basic to do. Also, the weighted US-spec gearknob changes the throw considerably. I don't know if the CS already has a shorter gearknob than a normal M3 though - if not, definitely worth doing (and gotta get that awesome alcantara surround)! Hopefully I've given you a couple of ideas at least - Happy motoring!

Hopefully I've given you a couple of ideas at least - Happy motoring! Hey Christian, thanks for the awesome advice mate!! mines an SMG.. I've driven the manual m3's a lot but chose the SMG and the CS's are extremely difficult to come by as well in the UK.. and to find an absolute mint one that's not been abused it took incredible patience and stupid money..hahaha and the gearbox software has all been altered in mine as well ... so it definitely has its perks finally someone who has a supersprint system.. Mate i'd love to hear how that sounds on your car and get a real world idea if in fact it is really as good as it's supposed to be... I've got the entire CSL exhaust on my car headers and all.. came stock on my CS.. so I was contemplating between a full supersprint or a rogue engineering setup.. and as you say the alcantara is a beautiful thing the Rogue engineering El Diablo muffer is an amazing piece of work and their x-pipe with a EVC controller is sheer awesomeness haha http://www.rogueengineering.com/bmw/DIABLO.html I'll be going through canada.. america and cancun, mexico.. early next year so I might pick up the rogue engineering setup and bring it back as I'll have allowances for a 2nd 23kg baggage item because of business class, I've talked to modbargins in the states and have quotes off them etc etc other option is to do the supersprint system with nz performance tuning (any other recommendations??) start with that lightweight race exhaust and work my way forwards What'd you think mate.. Have a listen to my dyno vid for the Supersprint at full noise: http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/M3Run3_zps82840ed3.mp4.html or on cold start, with a couple of light revs around the 25sec mark: http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/MTOYColdStart_zpsb2e62706.mp4.html From what I've looked at online, the El Diablo sounds quite different. Some prefer the rasp of the Supersprint, but it's entirely personal preference. From my research, the power gains were quite similar. Let's catch up at the next meet - have a look-see for yourself! Sounds like a great trip to look forward to! I'd love to go over there, maybe one day!

Also watching a UFC event However I'm only doing this month long trip next year Feb so it's a wee while to wait and patience has never been one of my strengths.. hahaha and Cancun should be awesome as well From all the reviews the Rogue Engineering setup is exceptionally made as well and has more of a growl than a rasp, the super sprint systems look amazing as well, they do really well to maintain the rasp i'm a big fan of their stepped headers The US prices seem a lot less so I might pick up section 1,2 and 3 while I'm there.. Rogue looks the way to go.. really disappointed with miltek however it's an almost stock tone. yeah and sure whenever we have the next meet i'll try and make it

Hey mate well after speaking to a few places in the states and them having sent me a quite a few videos of customer cars etc etc and much more research, looks like the M3 headers and muffler are the priority bits to change.. as a lot of people tend to leave section 1 and 2 stock.. unless you'd want a rasp eliminator pipe etc etc.. honestly I like the rasp, it makes the m3 unique. so I'll be picking up the supersprint headers definitely.. as for the muffler it's still a toss up between the El Diablo and the Supersprint lightweight race. What are your thoughts mate?? I'll buy them soon enough (get them shipped across to my family's place in Vancouver) and get them on my way back from north america early next year. Probably better to grab them early due to time required for shipping from Italy ..manufacture etc etc

Definitely go with the parts the free up the most power first imo... besides a few horses here or there, the backbox choice between the two is all about noise preference. I am very happy with Supersprint, but haven't run the el Diablo so can't really compare in-cabin. I haven't seen too many of either kit in the flesh to be honest - your trip o/s will certainly give you all the options!
