M5V8 337 Report post Posted December 4, 2013 I think when Walter Rohrl says: "the first car in my life that I drive and I feel scared" Porsche should have listened. A car that's just waiting to kill you. http://jalopnik.com/porsche-that-killed-paul-walker-dangerous-needs-res-1474240192 RIP Paul Walker. By all accounts a genuinely cool dude. mjh 26 Report post Posted December 4, 2013 I think when Walter Rohrl says: "the first car in my life that I drive and I feel scared"[/size] Porsche should have listened. There's nothing wrong with the CGT. It is an amazing car to drive on the road and is actually very easy to drive even around town. The clutch can however be testing in stop start traffic. A CGT does have traction control, however like a GT3 it steps in very late. At the end of the day there are plenty of fast super cars that kill if you are being stupid. F40, Enzo, Ford GT are just a few. One of the big issues with cars like the CGT is that they hardly get used and you end up with a car that has 10 year old tyres that are very hard. That could have been the case in this crash? New tyres will make a big difference in driving something like a CGT.
M5V8 337 Report post Posted December 4, 2013 I was thinking that also. Apparently the car was very rarely used. Possibly original tyres. Also Porsche continued to develop tyres for the CGT on the back of customer complaints around it's handling and released and updated version of the Michelin Pilots for the later build cars. Really sad that this has happened, especially on a public street, there is a time and a place.

Phil-540i 166 Report post Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Very koooool collection there - be worth a mint!!! Edit - This is / was Paul Walkers collection............video doesn't say that....... http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/videos/9521674/Fast-and-Furious-star-had-cool-car-collection Regardless of anything else, just died too early. In a vehicle, driven by some-one else. Ironically, it was films with vehicles that made him famous, & gave him the $$$ to buy his own collection. And, died in a Porsche - a breed of car he obviously quite liked really............. Call it what ya like, but its a real shame really............... mjh 26 Report post Posted December 19, 2013 I think it's safe to say that a few CGT owners will be getting new tyres if they are running original ones as a result of this incident.
Apex 693 Report post Posted December 19, 2013 Might be worth checking the age of the tyre's on our own cars also, I was shocked at the age of a second hand jap import tyre I brought to get a wof on my race car.
my_e36 43 Report post Posted May 16, 2014 What are the chances of the plaintiff winning this one. If it doesn't get thrown out, bet it will settle out of court for undisclosed sum. yng_750 247 Report post Posted May 16, 2014 Yea really stupid and insulting that americans think that sueing is part of the recover process. Theres a women there that hit a kid and killed him when she was txting and driving. She is now sueing the dead victim for emotional trauma. stupid. Also porsche can probably say that the american authoritys approved it for sale so it falls on them
