deeveus 81 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) I've got a 2001 e46 316ti which I bought for the wife. It came with a what looks like a brand new key, the older type infa red. My 2000 e46 320d has the newer long range diamond shape key and that is a slightly older car but is NZ New, the 316 is a Jap import. For the love of Christ I cannot pair the infa red key to the 316ti. I've been through forums and tried several different methods none of which have worked. I would have thought the 316 should have the diamond key??? Has the previous owner somehow got the older type key to start the car? Any help would be appreciated in advance! Neal 544 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 My 2002 e46 has the same setup and uses infra red rather than the 433 MHz wireless diamond keys. Check out the video and all should work. Note the three remote presses stage to sync the car / remote http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/46255-e46-remote-not-working/?p=501828
deeveus 81 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 My issue with that video is that I only have the one brand new key..
NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 My 2001 has the old key. The IR key/remote does suck, are you sure you're pointing it right at the rear view mirror and the batteries are not dead? Perhaps the fob is damaged? With only one key you'll want to order another anyway.
deeveus 81 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 Shouldn't be damaged, it looks brand new, lights flash indicating the battery isn't dead also.
