Engine build

Recommended Posts

Ive got a standard 320i just lowered 50mm. Im doing i engine transplant soon. My thoughts are: 2.5l scrap all ecu etc run a tripple side draft carb set up with lumpy cam, extractors and exhaust and maybe even get the cylinders board out, i know this probily sound crazy but im just thinking how many poele have done this? because ive never herd of it bening done. i beleave it would be a sick sounding engine when its all finished. What are your thoughts?

Have done this to a 2.0l M10 motor we put in an E30 and also to a 3.5l M30 motor we put in another E30, but never to a M20 motor.

Both the motors turned into screamers, especially the M30 when you banged the throttle wide open. The sound through the triple 45 webers etc was really something else.

One problem... in both motors, when you really put you foot down hard, you needed a fuel bowser to follow you around...

Try this,

www.fritzsbits.co.uk

They offer a full range of performance upgrades, including cams, triple carb conversions etc. Try and get some info that way. They are expensive for some bits though.

Can u please give me some info on the 3.5l m30?  Whats it in etc?  and how hard/easy conversion was,  gearbox used etc thanks

Not a hard conversion. It was offered as a factory option in S.A. and from Alpina.
