polley 916 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Seems like a waste of petrol. You're going to burn more petrol energy generating the hydrogen than you get back from burning the hydrogen.

Correct - otherwise know as the race for Perpetual Motion, you cant make more than you start with.
elmarco 56 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Ironically enough, I was on a 100% hydrogen powered bus last weekend (in London). That seems like the perfect application for the fuel cell - quiet, emission free, and has a set route for predictable fill up points. I do wonder how big the tank was & how far they can go on it but it does indeed appear that they are finally at the point of not just being a pipe dream. JoKer 58 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 those things do seem top work but you shouldnt pass a wof with it [alternative fuels etc/explosive risk]
aja540i 1906 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Didnt bmw make a hydrogen powered version of the e38 when they were new? If you were that worried about petrol prices wouldnt you get a 728 instead.
