Jimbob789 1 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 I just bought a e36 328i coupe and one thing that doesn't work is the windscreen washers. If you look at the attachment images there is a silver thing cable tied up to the washer bottle, note the spliced wires that don't look factory either. The motor makes noise and has water in the tank but still no. Have also checked for blockages in the lines or jets or leaks but nothing. I'm guessing it has something to do with it!! _ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 possibly not getting enough voltage to build pressure? Pump faulty/inefficient assuming you have checked the water lines, thats the next place i would look
aja540i 1906 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 That looks like a second pump attached to the tank, i would pull them both out, get a new pump and chuck it in, dont bother with second hand pumps they disintegrate inside after a while. My e39 did this and i think the new pump from bmw wasnt too expensive.
C-130 Hercules 571 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 From my experience it is usually a faulty pump. Easy fix. Pull the tank out while you are at it and check for any cracks / deterioration around bottom. Secondly, check the relay in the fuse box.
andrewm 236 Report post Posted May 3, 2015 For me in the e46 the valves inside the jets had come apart was fiddly to reassemble the little bits but solved my issue. Could hear the pump but no fluid came out until I did this then worked fine.
