Is that front right tyre on backwards or is that just the way the tread pattern goes?

It's an asymmetric tyre, not directional, so it's correct :)

does seem silly i agree, and yet i find an assymetric gives a better drive than the equivelent priced directional

Really? Last time I had asymmetric tyres I purchased left and rights. Was a while back on my old 180SX but I am sure I have a picture of the ass end somewhere that shows it.

And I think we have had this discussion - yes you can get tyres with asymmetric and directional tread which are side specific - Pirelli and others do them, when used in a staggered set up they will become corner specific.

Yes, at least once in another thread a while back where I posed the same photo of my car :D
