E38 DSP Amp problems.

Recommended Posts

I'm having issues with the stereos in both E38s.

I've tried swapping out Amps to no avail.

I'm wondering if anybody know's of a audio specialist who has had success fixing these?

Its beyond my abilities and I'm starting to get frustrated..lol

From the 750i I get static. Volume works. I can select channels but all I hear is static.

The 740i turns off after 30 seconds. I can power it off then back on and it'll work for another 30 seconds. From a bit of reading online I believe I may have to have it coded to the car?

Hmmm Static when playing CDs etc?

Interesting about the power issue the other one is having.

Do you find the performance differs slightly if the car is hot / parked in the sun as apposed to early in the morning / late at night when they are cold?

I had various stereo issues in my Soarer that runs DSP units, Amps and reciever controls and the problems would fluctuate with temperatures.

In the end it was due to aged faulty capacitors.

I replaced about 250 of them between the 4 units and now it works perfectly.

If I had the knowledge to do this I'd pull one of my amp's to bits and crack into it but I have zero knowledge on electronics and wiring.

I'm told that though the amp's can be exactly the same they are coded to the specific sound system of the car they're in. The E38's dsp amp can vary between 4 brands and can be found in the E39 and E53 as well so while they are all pug and play unless you get one from a car that has the same speaker arrangement it will either sound terrible or will turn off after about 30 sec. So hopefully the dealership or euro car specialist will be able to code it for me.

The 750i is just static. cant hear music at all.

And it's all the time. Volume works and I can see on the screen its searching and finding different stations just all I hear is static.
