BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted October 13, 2015 The 2nd E39 M5 i'm restoring has the DSP system, no nav. All speakers except the drivers woofer work fine. I removed the offending speaker and hooked it up to a battery and it works fine. The door harness wiring looks o.k to me, no kinks or damage to the wiring sheath. My guess is the DSP amplifier speaker channel for this woofer is kaput? Any other ideas?
MD13 494 Report post Posted October 13, 2015 Can you use a multi meter to check the signal at each stage?
BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted October 14, 2015 Not at the mo. Will look in to it when the battery is hooked up again.
trip3 16 Report post Posted October 14, 2015 might be a lame suggestion - have you tried another speaker to those terminals? could be a connection issue in door wire harness plug... my 2 cents worth

BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted October 17, 2015 Fixed. Got lucky... had a real good look at the wiring behind the door card, and re routed it in a more tidy fashion, either a piece of foam surrounding the top tweeter fell in between the big white plug and socket, or there was a kink in the wiring. All speakers working now. This is the first e39 i've owned with dsp. Sounds really good although lacking a wee bit of detail in the higher frequencies.
