Fun continues - E60 545i engine fault

Recommended Posts

Wife was driving the 545i to work this morning when the check engine light came on and the car started running rough. 'engine fault - drive moderately' was the message. Dropped it in to Driscolls where my X5 is already (for window regulator replacement #2) - they said it will be a coil.

Even my 'have a spare BMW' plan isn't enough!!

oh well...

Getting it back this evening - with 1 new coil and 8 new plugs (to hopefully avoid any more coils going).

I also have two BMWs which delight in taking turns in being pulled to bits, one after the other. Its like a big merry go round, the wife never knows which car she will be taking to work

Those poor stupid other people in their reliable Corollas, how boring their lives must be!

Fingers crossed year 1 = 'deferred/inevitable maintenance catchup period!' :D

Yes deferred maintenance is the problem- have not owned either car for long so I am effectively paying the previous owners bills

May pay to just replace all coils? They do have a habit of going "phut"

Nah, just carry a spare one. Murphys law says If you have a spare part, you will never need It!! ;)
