E30 325i Rag-Top 2963 Report post Posted October 10, 2016 Many of these processes in the vehicle manufacturing industry look to be very wasteful, but when you work out how much it would cost to have a process that re-introduced the parts back into "used parts" stock then it doesn't stack up. Even if the parts are 99.99% brand new and have never been driven / used they cannot be re-introduced to the production line unfortunately. If you are lucky you might get to scounge a few bits for your or a mates car, but quite often everything has to have a hammer put through it to make sure it doesn't get re-used by some devious method.
