As an update for my "retro" SR7 system, I've repaired the LED on the steering column, and while at it found the central module behind the coin tray type compartment on the right side of the steering column (e39) plus the mute button on the top side of the compartment (very clever and so well hidden it took me 6 months to find.... not that I was really looking...). Also the rear laser sensor is in place. So I do actually have a fully operational escort SR7. As to how useful it is these days who knows. It did "assist" me a couple of times on the recent roadie with the Welly crew...
Breaker 980 Report post Posted June 16, 2017 Just picked up a DFR7 so keen to see how that works compared with the inbuilt Beltronics I've got in the Audi which is a few years old now, sounds like the R1 steps it up again, keen to hear how it performs when you get it back to NZ

It's the XR80, it's installed in the ash tray which is pretty cool, there is a receiver in the drivers side lower slot by the fog light and one attached on the boot lid above the plate. Must have been something Audi offered here on NZ new sales at the time as I've seen a few RS and Ss with same setup. 2006 vintage but still pretty sharp. long distance K radar for car units seems excellent. Interested how the Uniden will compare in the E38.
Mr Hyde 44 Report post Posted June 18, 2017 I have an Escort Passport 9500ci. I purchased it off ebay around 5 years ago as it was half the price of buying it NZ. It was an American programmed one the only difference being that it wasn't pre-loaded with NZ speed camera sites. The performance on these radars is phenomenal. Loads of warning and jamming capability is outstanding. I have owned other radars in the past such as the bel sti and the v1. One of which got stolen which is why I didn't bother to go window mount again. The passport is hands down way better than both in my opinion. Worth every cent.
