Buying a 2010 135i DCT high Kms

High I am looking at purchasing a 2010 135i with about 150K mileage and was wondering if that is too high if the vehicle has been service and maintained well.

I would strongly suggest you get a PPI carried out by either the Dealer or an independent BMW specialist

Well value takes a hit so as long as you're paying a fair bit less than what you would for a low km one it's ok.

Just get a PPI from a good specialist as above.

My 335i DCT just passed 150 000km and it's been ok. A few things break as expected but nothing catastrophic. Even took it to a 20 min track session recently and it handled it fine.

I'm 43... the whole injectors, turbo thing, scared me... so I chickened out and went old school. Bought a E86 3.0si. N52... pretty much bulletproof.

My 335i DCT has 75000km on it. Just wondering if you have done the DCT fluid change on yours?

Recently at 150 000km yes. Trans was out of the car for a head gasket issue so I had all seals, pan and fluid replaced.

Do you mind tell me where you get the trans job done? I have heard that most workshops can't or don't do it as it is not a standard service. Also some people say the transmission fluid is lifetime so I am not sure if I need change the fluid in the future.

I've had it done on mine not too long ago by Auto Trans ltd. They did a great job. Its definitely not lifetime fluid, don't fall for that crap. It's quite a big job, they ended up replacing the trans pan and 2 other filters along with the fluid as part of the service. Came up to under $1200 from memory.

Not cheap but definitely worth doing for these transmissions.  noticed the shifts become much smoother afterwards too

I had it done by BM Workshop in Botany. Also about $1k. This includes new pan, filter and seals (they wouldn't normally do the seals as they're not reachable with the trans in the car).

Looking at the invoice, it would be about half that if you only did the fluid. Bit considering what a DCT unit costs, I would rather do everything at once.

Yes BMWs "lifetime fluid" policy does make it hard to judge when you should really service it. I've heard of some doing just fine up to 200k on the factory fluid. I think 100k is a good interval to go by if you want to be safe but I wouldn't be scared to leave it for longer.
