Recovering front seats

Recommended Posts

I am faced with recovering the front seats in my car, an '87 m325i.

I was just going to get them recovered in the same bmw fabric until i found out it cost upwards of $100 a meter and I decided I didnt really like the original interior anyway.

So i was thinking of getting them recovered in all black or in a 2 tone black where the inserts would be ligher colour or vice versa. I think this would give the look of sport seats in the front which i think would look good.

Your Opinions........??

Cheers Mavrick

If your recovering you might aswell get the foam moulded and ad a bit of bucket to them....

In the m325i the seats are able to be positioned so that they have a bucket effect. Its a good amount of bucket not too much that you look like a 12 year old driving your parents car.

Sounds fine to me. About 400 years ago  I had a Fiat 124 Sports Coupe in which the seat fabric wore, then tore. I had an upholsterer replace the fabric with black leather, so I had tan leather on the outsides with basically a black leather stripe down the centre. It looked very smart in a sporty car of the time.

Think normal seats, but with this stitching ala the Audi TT.

Never seen white belts, but it would match nice.

You could get red stitching, and match it to Sport Evo red belts, seen here:

I'd bit the head off a child for that interior.

Baseball stitching here:

Could not get the same cloth in NZ to match old seats (changed from standard to

motorsport seats). BMW could get it in for me at $ 1600 a seat. So went for grey leather & grey cloth on the sides. Hard to pick the colour from little samples & still cost heaps, but i am happy with the result.
