Fothers 5 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Traded my E36 328 for the E46 328 which by comparison is just exponentially superior that the E36. Quantam Leap even. Sorry about the non artistic photo, this was the one the dealer sent me. And for all you purists out there, please note the distinctive lack of bling. Fothers. m325i 709 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Clear OEM lights, and a mild sacking and shadowline and tints. I hate e36s.
E30stz 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 nice buy, looks good. I'd probably go about defining it more through larger more mags with a slight dish on them, as well as clear indicators front side and rear. That would be a start anyway, but IMO its fine just the way YOU like it.

Fothers 5 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 (edited) Being the sensible family man I am, I thought I would keep it fairly standard. It takes all of about 1 minute to clean the alloys, so despite the fact that they're a bit fugly I don't really want to change them. First plan is to get BMW to load the warranty/service plan so I can get all the bits and pieces fixed that some moron called "bob" missed when he did the 100 point check. Guest Andrew Report post Posted March 6, 2006 what major diffs have you noticed between this and e36? driving wise its massive - e46s feel REALLY tight - not chassis flexi and autobahn stormer like e36s - e46 feel like e30s with roll cages hah. Fothers 5 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 what major diffs have you noticed between this and e36? driving wise This is the E36 vs E46 comparison after having owned the car for 1 monthWhen I sold the E36, it had about 110 ks on it, this one has about 105. It's shitloads tighter, it's quieter althought the E36 had 225/50/16 Goodyear F1's, E46 has 205/55/16 Continentals which would make a difference. You can actually fit sh*t in the boot as the cd stack is hidden instead of being in the way as was the E36 where some moron from BMW installed it. The power delivery is so much smoother (the E36 used to get up & go once on the cam but this is sooooo smooth & sooooo "torquey". The transmission ratios are a little lower which probably helps this given that they are the same engine I like the old man features like the cruise control, memory seats, the controls on the steering wheel, the 6 speakers, the airbag overkill and the fact that it's just that bit bigger inside. It's not black like the E36 which never looked perfectly clean and the alloys are easy to clean. What don't I like. Black leather is hotter than tan. This is my fifth Bimmer & I'm still looking for somewhere to store my water bottle. It seems to use more fuel than the E36, although I don't think I am thrashing it like I used to in the E36. The other piss off is that despite having done the deal thru a BMW dealer, and it having a warranty/service plan for 2 years, this is still not activated and the dealer is telling me to hold off on getting the niggly bits fixed for a while as BMW may sting them for the bill. So what. :banghead: I paid good money for a car that had 6 things wrong with it and only 3 of these have been fixed. I am psyching myself up for a really good bitch to someone about this. I will hold off on saying who it is until I get my new website www.myshitlist.co.nz up & running. They will be 2nd. Overall I am really happy with it despite the last paragraph. I am having my first really good drive Akld to Napier on Friday (5 am departure) so can't wait for that. Fothers
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 its massive - e46s feel REALLY tight - not chassis flexi and autobahn stormer like e36s - e46 feel like e30s with roll cages hah. As a previous owner of a e36 .. There are huge differences. Mind you my e36 had done 160+ks and my e46 was at 40 .. However, The e46 seems to 'point' higher under hard cornering with more percise steering. Driver aids (traction and DCS) make a nice change. The car is a lot more stable at *cough*200kph+*cough*.. westy 614 Report post Posted March 8, 2006 (edited) FixedAAAAhahahaha, your best work so far It is indeed more accurate to say that WE have one of each. There will be nothing done to the e46,it has H&R springs and Sach shocks fitted(not by us)and some girly mags on it.Its our daily driver and is a little rough around the edges. Its a manual 328 though :mosh: Dont like the electronic throttle much. Edited March 8, 2006 by DirtySix
