Jacko 2154 Report post Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) E87 and E81s have different shocks up front, looks like E81s are shared with E82s in some specs (like the US 128i coupe) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=31316782857 - The sachs p/n is the "old" p/n for the same shock you listed, and interchangable retrospectively with the 23/24 B4s come in both "Motorsport" valving and stock. Its very likely many of the shocks are all totally physically interchangeable from E8/9x but will have different valving. Sorry those linked Bilsteins are E81/E87 130i in the sports suspension spec which I assume is their jargon for M-sport suspension. They are dearer than the models for stock suspension. Ah ok, that makes sense. So they work out about the same cost then between the Sachs and the bilstein b4. Edit with Shipping B4s for sport suspension are under $300NZ, and the sachs are about $380 ok on amazon I can match the old part number to the B4 bilsteins, so they're correct for the E81! Eagle 1662 Report post Posted May 27, 2019 Depends on who you ask. Personally i always do strut mounts, followed by bump stops and dust boots if perished, some times the lower spring pad if it looks deformed but i re-use everything else. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Eagle 1662 Report post Posted May 28, 2019 FCP with Fedex for 2x E39 front struts and 2x rear shocks was $100 USD, It was $60 USD if shipping them as pairs. I use Youshop when their charges get a bit excessive for smaller items and i dont mind waiting. They were going to charge for $50 USD to ship a front wheel bearing at a few little connectors and seals, Youshop was $50 NZD with the 5-9 day and $37 iirc for 7-14 day.
