StormRider 3 Report post Posted December 27, 2019 Good morning all, I found this forum looking for a reputable BMW mechanic in the Wellington area. I was pleased to find out that Page European come highly recommend because I used them just last week to replace a slit coolant hose on my 2011 X3 28i N52B30. As this is my first BMW, I have been watching some YouTube videos and doing all sorts of research on my model. The last video I watched was about “9 parts that will fail on a 100k+ mile BMW n52” ... and that’s why I decided to start looking for a reputable mechanic before I’m in a rush. I love my “old but new to me” X3 and want it to last me a long time. So I’m happy to service it at a dealership but I also know that not all dealerships are reputable. Sometimes the independent guys are actually better as well as more affordable. Looking forward to my journey with BMW and relying on this forum for additional advice ... questions on RaceChip vs Dyno to follow ??? hahaha Have a great New Year as we all head into 2020
Jacko 2156 Report post Posted December 27, 2019 Welcome, N52s are great engines. That BMW Doctor guy on youtube who proclaims to be an N52 expert is a hack and just dribbles nonsense, I wouldnt put any faith in anything he says
Herbmiester 925 Report post Posted December 30, 2019 John at Auto38 is a BMW specialist and has an excellent reputation. That said I am unsure if he does newer BMW's or just the classics, worth a call though. For general servicing I had a very good experience with Saxtons in Lower Hutt, they seem very professional. TermiPeteNZ 1318 Report post Posted December 31, 2019 Hey Lance and welcome to Bimmersport! I recommend Auto38 too... while Jon does specialise in older Bimmers, he has worked on plenty of vehicles from the 2000s and the N52 is a pretty common engine. Do note we have a very active BMW Car Club branch here in Welly and Xs are welcome!
