Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Hi all, passenger side air bag has finally let go on the wagon, needing a replacement pair fairly urgently as it’s now my daily driver. New would be ideal but quite happy with a known good used pair. Auckland or Hamilton preferred Thanks

It’s no longer holding air, compressor is running but it’s not inflating the bag anymore, can hear it leaking like crazy. 218000km and 19 years old, it’s probably time they were replaced Edited June 22, 2020 by Ahmedsinc Spelling
B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 It would be prudent to check visually that it is the bag that's leaking first

Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Have had a play with INPA, managed to raise the rear left to normal height and observed it sinking, can hear escaping air from outside but nothing leaking from the inlet line or around the retaining clip. Oddly it’s now staying at normal height, no audible leak. Admin can we move this thread to maintenance?

Would I be hearing leaking from outside the car if it’s the air line or should that be audible inside the cabin?
B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 (edited) Jack it up and spray soapy water round the whole assembly to see where it's leaking from. You'll need to get it in the air high enough to be able to have it on ramps so it's loaded and then try again unloaded to get better visual. You could also try using a stethoscope. Good grief, what a dog of a spot to try accessing with the wheels on!! I’d say the bag is the culprit, can see bubbles to the right in the photo. Outside of the dealers do you know of anyone that stocks them in Auckland? Have seen the seller on trademe, would prefer to collect tomorrow if at all possible. Thanks for your help Glenn
Gaz 1061 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Check the other side as well, often they wear out in pairs, or at least won't be far away

The drivers side definitely has a droop going on, though not as bad as the passenger side ?
B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Try Autolign in Carbine Road Panmure or Shock Absorber Services SAS in Manukau. The alternative would be to convert to standard suspension although I have never done this personally. Others may have.
Olaf 3318 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 If you can't find your air springs locally, it appears there are plenty of options on Ebay. As usual, get the RealOEM part number and shop for quality.
