BMW/Mini Garage in Whakatane

Recommended Posts

Heya, my mums 2007 Mini R56 cooper S has popped its heater core in Whakatane (She is in Tauranga). As far as I know, thats the only damage other than wet carpets.

Local garage has told her its 5 weeks wait for parts and $1800 to fix... parts supplied by BMW NZ extortion services.

FCP Euro/Turners have cores in stock from $50-200USD, couple of days via fedex.

Does anyone know a suitably not rubbish mechanic down there who can swap a heatercore in? Ideally someone with BMW/Mini experience.

I'm not sure that you will find a BMW/Mini garage/specialist in Whakatane. But...

I travel regularly to Whakatane and last year I took my e31 fuel pump housing with me to try a local auto electrician. Long story but it had a dead pump and damaged housing wiring. After calling several businesses I decided to take it to Super Auto Electrical. They sourced and fitted an OE Bosch fuel pump, then repaired the wiring all for what I consider a reasonable cost (hundreds v thousands for a genuine complete unit). No-one in Wellington was even remotely interested in helping me out.

Run by a husband and wife with a team of mechanics they gave great service. Len, the owner, says they  do a lot of work on the local euro's, BMW, Porsche, VW etc. When I was there they had an X5 and a VW Toureg showed up. They are my first port of call if I need a garage when I'm there.

Hope this helps.

Half way between Whakatane and Tauranga is Master Lotz located in Pongakawa. He specialises in Euro stuff, we used to take all our cars to him when we lived there. Competent, not over priced, huge tidy workshop and as a bonus more German than beer and schnitzel.

I am taking my car to Sherson Auto, Greerton, Tauranga who specialise in BMW. I believe Brett used to be the BMW Tauranga head tech (could be wrong).
