denpin 5 Report post Posted November 15 Hi, I have sanded both headlights, starting with 400 grit and working my way up to 3000 grit, using a rotary sander. The results are uneven with fogginess along the lower part of the headlight? What could be the reason for this and could you recommend a possible fix? Many thanks. mmario 51 Report post Posted November 17 Boy that looks bad, I think you probably need new lights to fix that. Not sure a rotary sander is the best idea just go by hand
Danch 35 Report post Posted November 17 Don't you need to polish it and add some UV coating?
Cement 883 Report post Posted November 18 Looks like you just need to keep going !! Possibly previous clear coat on one part and not the other giving different hardness ?
aja540i 1906 Report post Posted November 18 I suspect you have sanded through the outer layer which is probably a scratch / UV resistant layer, you can polish it up fine from there just make sure you coat it with something to protect it from UV once you are done. denpin 5 Report post Posted November 24 I polished the headights using a fine compound on an orange foam pad, and the problem is now fixed!
