BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted June 5 Full lci interior swap done, much nicer than black on black. Been busy getting my white 130i for sale so not much attention to this one for now. Didn’t make track day last month but planning to go 29th June.

BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted July 16 Finally got the lci cluster working in this car and the pre-lci cluster working in the white 130i. Somehow the pre-lci cluster fitted to the white car went corrupt after disconnecting the battery so needed a new chip and re-programming. Track day next Sunday on re003’s, road pads and rooted shocks so not expecting it to go around the HD national circuit as well as my old Primera did, but with this being correct wheel drive it should be fun nonetheless.
BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted July 25 Slapped in a set of front pads. Nothing fancy but better than what was in there. Also got some 7.6Kg BBS RK001’s in 17x8 et35 flavour. Might be a touch too much tyre so will try 225/45/17.

BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted July 27 Made it to HD, did 3x15 sessions and drove it home. 20 next year and with 224k kms. Good car, think i’ll keep it for a while. A little de-brief while it’s fresh on mind.… Likes: - Easy to drive, didn’t miss-shift and heel n toe is a breeze. - Heaps of grip and adjustability - Torque delivery. Coming from a cammed sr20ve that made noting until 5-9k rpm this was brilliant on corner exit. - When both rear tyres hooked getting on it early on corner exit Next time I’ll see how a set of b4s’s, m3 fr ctrl arms and better bushes for the gbox and rear subframe go and setup an in-car camera to catch a few laps. Small clip of some peg-legging on the up and over. 9e14946f-a840-4c96-a120-a37c88056b88.mov
BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted August 8 For being such a good car have a treat. The Koni rear “Additional damper” I assumed came as a pair. Well for $115 you’d think so 🙄 Ordered a set of rear subframe inserts as well so should be a nice little transformation. Prepping the pillar trims for wrap. Nice n easy epoxy fill. Unfortunately my beloved bbs’s are throwaways. Hopefully getting a refund shortly. What I thought were 3 paint cracks confirmed worse by 3 repair shops. I was ok with the bend as I intended to refurb them. IMG_4984.mov

BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted August 8 Needed a couple of gen bits so schmiedmann with their summer sale worked out best.
BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted August 12 Started adding the treats with the hardest corner, the rest should go lots quicker once I’ve learned the tricks. Nice little surprise, now I know why it’s sitting about 30mm lower in front. Confirmed rears are AC Schnitzer too. Needed a bit of encouragement to get the M3 arm in. Might do a bit more so it doesn’t need as much hitting to get home. Have to adjust toe a bit for the new arms. This will be deciding factor if I’m delayed by another week or so. Some high gloss black wrap and squeegee tools arrived from ali so had a go at wrapping the door pillar trims. Better than expected
BreakMyWindow 1998 Report post Posted Monday at 12:10 AM How good are cold n flu tablets now with the extra special sauce in them. Got a bit of energy on the weekend at night after kids went down to make progress Front shocks all done. Was expecting this to be a dick but all went really smoothly. Yet to get the car on the ground to check toe. Old Monroe fronts, look to be the standard suspension variant as the new b4s’s are considerably shorter. Got the revshift 80A poly gbox mounts in. Started the car up on stands and went through the gears, no vibrations or sequential race box sounds, verdict when on the road and track. Waiting for the other koni rear ‘additional damper’ to show up so not quite done with the rear end. Someone loved this car over the years as the rear shocks were AC Schnitzers paired with AC springs. Old vs new rear bumpstops, significantly shorter. I will likely do rear subframe inserts after next trackday on 31st as I’m keen to feel the incremental improvements all these treats will make, plus they’ll probably turn up when I just cbf putting them in the day before the track.
