paulo 73 Report post Posted Monday at 10:51 PM Hi there Wondering if someone has one of these available, or can point me in the right direction... I have a generic K+DCAN of unknown origin which has worked OK for me with ISTA, INPA etc, but I am needing to flash my e60 M5 DME with a euro tune, and my existing cable does not seem to be up to it. the cables are listed as "out of stock" on the bimmergeeks website. (My M5 has a replacement DME from a USA car and is still running the USA smog parameters, causing a check engine light as it thinks the car should have a DMTL pump) cheers paul
Eagle 1702 Report post Posted Tuesday at 12:23 AM Its just mainly a firmware update isnt it? Probably could do it yourself for way cheaper or find the relevant one on Aliexpress with some work Seems to be a lots of places selling them though. Here's a few i found: https://www.djwwautodiagnostics.co.uk/product/bmw-k-dcan-lead-switch-enhanced-firmware-bimmergeeks-protool-07---23 https://www.bimmertuningtools.com/product/btt-cable/ https://www.chaoscalibrations.com/store/CHAOS-BMW-K-DCAN-INPA-OBD2-USB-Cable-p410327542
exextatic 145 Report post Posted Tuesday at 12:31 AM Updating the cable's firmware isn't too difficult either: https://www.sfbmwcoding.com/files/flashing_compatible_cable_ediabaslib.pdf Definitely don't attempt to update the DME without fixing the firmware first, from memory the clone adapters have a firmware bug that results in every 255th byte being corrupt. paulo 73 Report post Posted Tuesday at 08:17 AM Thanks for the information, guys - very helpful. Yes, I understand that the MSS65 DME from M6 / M5 are particularly vulnerable to bricking if the proper upgraded firmware cable is not used. @Jacko - thanks for your kind offer - my preference is to buy one outright, as I will likely be using it semi-regularly, but please PM me if you would consider selling it. Cheers Paul
