M-Tech 1 steering wheel refurb

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to get my m-tech 1 steering wheel from my E30 refurbished. I have no idea where to look or start.

How would I go about getting this done? Has anyone done this before? Where did you go to to get it done?

I recovered my own, using the Redlinegoods kit (leather cover and thread). Looks really good, although the thread for lacing it on is a little harsh on the fingers- could be softer. The terminations/seams behind each spoke were a challenge(the leather doesn’t stretch well) and needed some pretty ugly lacing/stitching. I may revisit these. Well priced though.

Might give this a go.

That looks good. Cool I'll order that kit for sure. Probably save some money in the process as well doing it myself.

Cheers.

Didn’t take long, but bear in mind I grew up on my mother’s sewing room floor, and not exactly my first rodeo.

Seems like my best option at this stage. Unless I can find somewhere in NZ that can do it. Not the kind of thing I would normally do myself. Sounds like a good idea to get some quotes around my way first before going with DIY.
