M54B30 and 5speed manual complete repower paclage

Recommended Posts

I'll edit with more details later, but im doing another engine swap on my e28, so selling the complete kit I made up, should drop into any e28 as is.

M54b30 engine - about 315k on it now, though in great condition:

- custom exhaust manifold to clear RHD steering

- Water pump, under manifold coolant pipes
- All oil seals replaced incl Vanos and power steering hoses
- All pulleys, belts and tensioners
- Alternator rebuilt, new VRM (2mths old).

- Brand new Bosch Fuel Injectors (2mths old)

- New plugs, filters etc

"Race thermostat" - 75c target temp

Electric Fan conversion and Air Con delete and ICV (PCV) bypass.

Getrag 250 5 speed manual

Tuned stock ECU to remove EWS, secondary air injection (SAP) and catalytic converters.

M54 engine mounts for e28 from e28Goodies

Custom wiring harness for plug and play of this engine into an e28 (possibly an easy adaptation to e30 for all these parts).

My own designed and built Eventuri style Intake system (3d printed carbon reinforced nylon).

Location: Wellington

Price: hard to know but asking $5000 as a total and complete package. Save big time on install costs!

Chasing that s54?

As it happens no, in possibly a move for the ages in terms of stupidity, Ive purchased an S85 complete engine and manual gearbox. V10 8250rpm, manual powered e28!

Nice.  I was thinking about getting rid of all my M30 stuff and doing the same with my E34.
Race car or road car?

Road! The s65 (v8 version) might be the better race engine if you had the option! Same gearbox on both.

Legend. I have decided a few months back on a V10 M6 and manual swap as my next big project but I really want to upgrade my garage first so I can do it with a lift. 500hp in an E28 will be crazy.

No it would be V10 or I would stick with the Turbo M30.  I have actually seen too many S65's lunch themselves for me to have any interest in them.

The scary thing about the S65 is the #1 main bearing issue (which is not a problem on the S85 it seems). And obviously getting to the main bearings to replace them is a significantly bigger job than just the rod bearings. I've read that main bearing issue mostly effects DCT cars with auto stop/start though which makes sense.
