325GRANT 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 just finished the exhaust and went for a quick blast in the 325. i have to say it goes pretty good. at the moment its running about 10lbs boost but is only safe upto about 8lbs, after that strange things start to happen! hopefully after a bit of dyno time we can get it safe up to 12 - 14lbs, but for now a light foot and 8lbs will have to do. anyway if any of you wellington guys want to go for a bit of a cruze this weekend give me a yell. bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 congrats bro, any pic's of the engine bay? Did the beast start first time? Do the people behind you get showered in fuel soot? You still have that engine loom lying around somewhere?

bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 (edited) Some engine bay porn would be nice if you can post some sh*t up. When are the next pram drags? What you have left would be nice. Im just keeping my ear to the ground for one for my old 2.7 motor, that i still have. Edited August 2, 2006 by bumpstop325

Guest Andrew Report post Posted August 2, 2006 i just realised i have no photos! ill take some tomorrow. fired up first time, thanks to andrew and his link tune file. pretty much butchered the loom, do you need one? Awesome - There is a general fuel enrichment setting - could be worth trying to set that up and run it rich for now. You should do a FULL write up Grant and we'll post it up here. Bloody glad to hear it's boosted!
ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 Awesomeness, pics + vid! wicked that must be one of the first E30 m20b25 turbs on here? Even in NZ, congrats man.
325GRANT 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) we have spent the last 4 hours tuning the link and found i have a faulty boost gauge, when we thought we were over boosting and hitting 17lbs it was more like 23 - 24lbs so no surprise we have blown my head gasket to bits. (but sh*t it went fast) so it looks like its off the road again already... heres a few photos, they were taken at night so they dont look too good and ignore the crappy looking heat shield needed to protect some wiring at the last minute. Guest Andrew Report post Posted August 3, 2006 23 lbs has to be pretty fun hah. No other damage? Just head gasket?
Guest Spargo Report post Posted August 3, 2006 Tough! Double head gasket with studs or a copper one?
Carl 3 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 Would've been fun to have gone for a cruise this weekend, especially if you were going to be running 23lbs!!! Next time when you get it sorted - k
325GRANT 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2006 just gasket i think... i will be getting a copper one made when i have the $$$ also want to use head studs. im not going to bother fixing this engine even if i fix the head gasket it will still just be a turbo charged smokey old motor so im getting onto my other motor a little sooner then i thought. new shopping list .... copper head gasket head studs external wastegate valve guides and 3 angle grind rings maybe skim my pistons dont know yet, have to do a bit of research and find out if im better to "decompress" using bigger head gasket or skim the pistons. i have to drive it down from paraparaumu tomorrow then it will be parked up for a while. i have to admit im tempted to pump my boost up and take a quick vid .... dunno yet. because of the head gasket its pushing water into the exhaust and causing a ton of "steam" to blow out the back so it looks like ass.
