A great deal from a BMW dealer. Well worth if you own one of these type of vehicles.

Make sure they only do the wof or oil change too.

I twice went to Shelley's to have minor work done (one being an oil change) and on both ocassions they did work I didnt ask them to do and refused to give me the keys until I had paid in full.

Besides now I come to think of it I paid 45 the other week at Page's anyway so where's the saving ?

[edit] and my last oil change at Page's was only 125 bucks and my V8 uses buckets of the stuff !

I agree, $45 for a WOF isn't a saving at all, plus you can't leave your car there all day while you rwork as it's too far away from the town centre now.

Hello,

My name is Michael Goode, I've recently joined Shelly as the Aftersales Manager. Naturally, I'm disapointed with the feedback posted so far to the E36 and E34 winter offers. They are genuine offers and I can assure you that no work will be undertaken without your prior authority. We can also offer a Fastlane service where we will carry out the oil service or WOF in less than 60 minutes. We are also offering a courtesy shuttle service every 30 minutes from 8:00am to 10:00am back into town.

I hope that we will have the opportunity to demonstrate our service levels at some point in the future.

Never really liked going to the dealers, when my auto tranny was poked i went to team macmillan and they 'fixed' it short term and charged me 350 bucks!! they are all overpriced, i mean oil change 100 bucks? oil + filter from repco = $40, + 30 mins of your time = satifaction job is done properly and $65 more in your pocket, beats me why anyone would go to the specialised dealers? also heard that anything apart from servicing isnt even done at the 'dealership' they send it off to other specialist places then charge extra ontop of what the specialist place charges....

DIY FTW... if not find a good service/repair shop as an alternative to rip off dealers, they only wanna make money!!!

Also, warrents, $20 at the dodgy iraqi place strategically placed all over the country B) If you know your car, you will know what is wrong with it and when things need replacing.

Michael, big thank you for offering this service to Bimmersport. Not every dealer/service centre does this. Prices are prices and I am sure that if you go down your local garage you will get a cheaper priced WOF and Oil Change but are you actually getting the same quality and workmanship.

Don't get to upset if people want to preform their own work on their cars or have someone other than Shellys do it.

Keep the offers coming. Every little bit helps.

If the free shuttle service involves being driven in a brand new 760i then i'm all down for that :D

I think any astute person should be able to work out when they're getting a deal or not. Sometimes you have to go through the dealer but when you don't have to you search around and find the deal that suits you.

Regarding Shelley's; being involved with the Wellington BMWCC and finding that Shelley's were not interested in holding site visits for BMWCC members (new car launches or whatever) it was a little disappointing, especially since Jeff Gray's in Palmy were quite excited to have us head up there for a day visit which was quite an enjoyable day.

Hello,

My name is Michael Goode, I've recently joined Shelly as the Aftersales Manager....

Wow, Shelley's on Bimmersport, who'd have thought ;)

Welcome Michael, if your interested on finding out more on our experiences with Shelleys I suggest you do a search on these forums. Be prepared for more disappointment though.

It would be fantastic for this relationship to change so I welcome anything you can bring to the discussion and Id be more than happy to discuss my experiences by email. Feel free to PM me.

Carl's post hit the nail on the head. Whilst Shelleys have always palmed off the BMWCC (and many members of Bimmersport), Jeff Grays hospitality was simply exceptional and I would have no hesitation in having them perform work or supply parts should I need a dealers services.

Could a few Wellington guys stop bagging Shelly's and let the rest of us take advantage of offers such as Michaels.

The guys probably thinking why did I bother.

Michael , keep them coming :) How about some discounts on BMW wheels & body kits ?

I've been using them for 18 years now without issue across 4 different BMW's. I've always had excellent service.

I know a number of Shelly customers that think the same thing.

Neal, Im pleased that you feel strong enough to say youve gotten excellent service, but Im not going to stop complaing about the absolute rubbish that I and plenty of others have had to put up with.

So far I've had excellent service as well from Shelly, however that's on a maintenance plan. The Compact is goint to Shelly for WOF and belt check on Monday, I'll see the outcome. This is one wasn't bought at Shelly so be interested to see whether it'll get the same treatment as the other one (washed etc.). When booking it for the work I wasn't offered a loaner, is it because this wasn't bought there?

At the moment the only negative aspect from Shelly's move is I can't stroll pass the waterfront anymore when picking the car after work. It's now either walking through Throdon's industrial area (and get run over by trucks) or catching a bus :-(

I'll still stand by Shellys,

I'll share an experience going to another so called specialist in Wellington a number of years back. (Not PAGE BTW).

The car broke an exhaust stud, no problems with that, a common issue on M20's. Whilst driving the car home going up Haywood’s hill the temperate gauge went off the clock (Very quickly as the e30's do). The result was a blown head gasket and a cracked head.

What had happened was when they'd worked on removing the broken exhaust stud they'd moved the overflow tank out of the way. They did the repair and moved it back into place. However, the hose that connects between tank and raditor hadn't been checked. The result was the hose was just hanging on and let go about 15 kms later. Car dumped its water and cooked the engine. The specialist argued that it wasn't his problem.(Usual BS about car being high mileage etc)

Wife and I were left with a $3,500 bill (Parts only as brother rebuilt the engine) and no car during winter for 3 months.

I won't name the specialist as I think they probably spend time on here and are quite well respected and it was some time ago. If Shelly's had done anything similar I doubt it would have cost me a cent.

BTW, A few of the Pages guys were at Shelly's when I first went to Shelly's.

I'll still stand by Shellys,

I wouldnt expect you to do any different Neal, if youve had great service then Im pleased for you. There is nothing more important than finding a mechanic that you can trust.

As for a couple of the guys working for Shelley's in the past, that doesnt surprise me. I think Ive dealt with at least three different places around Wellington that have all had people who used to work there !

I think we could discuss this all day. Youve have had great experiences with them, Ive had shocking experiences with them. Lets leave it at that shall we :)

As I said before though. Im more than willing to discuss my experiences with Michael should he wish, as Im sure are the BMWCC Wellington boys (Carl and Paul) who would dearly love Shelley's to be more open to the club.

Just feel that i should join the debate on Shellys.

Having spent lots of money with them, last car was only 6 months old when purchesed, And been given the "go away" responce from them re club involvment. They did not see the club as having any benefit to furthering their business.

I only take my e46 there, as they are not interested in older cars.

Spares department is outstanding in service, and i find them not over the top for the regular maintainence parts, oil filters and such.

The way I was treated by the salesman when i bought the car, would not make me at all keen to buy again. I would rather go the Jeff Gray and commute back to get it checked.

My 10 cents ( as thats the smallest now)

Interesting range of feedback on our Service levels. Nice to see some positives as well! I've been around the BMW world long enough to know that the franchise dealers can be seen negatively on pricing. However, I also believe that somewhere along the line, there is a balance to be found with the right service levels which will appeal to some customers.

I am interested in working with the BMW Car Club or/and Bimmersport to see how we can produce a mutually benificial relationship. When I worked for BMW in Singapore, I held techncial briefings, accessory weekends and Formula 1 events for the BMW owners club. I'm happy to look at similar events in Wellington.

We are currently running an E46 accessory promotion at the moment (with additional discount until the end of October) and there will be an E39 promotion coming out fairly soon. I'm happy to look at specials for wheel sets, if someone can give me feedback on what type/sizes you would be interested in.

If anyone would like to contact me directly about anything on Shelly offers, service etc, please email at michael.goode@shellybmw.co.nz or 4999030
