I sorted remounting the power steering pump and alternator. I used the E46 pump and alternator so I can reuse the factory power steering hoses and wiring loom for the alternator. Also I made and fitted the drive shaft

Given the scarcity and expense of genuine MSS54HP DMEs, I have been doing a few of these HP DME conversions for others recently. Good to see more and more joining the CSL revolution : P

Thanks dude. Smith & Smith want $275 for remove and replace which seems like an utter rip-off to me, for crying out loud it can't take more than 60 mins can it? What's their hourly rate!?! Novas and Auto-Glass can't give me a quote on the weekend but I will try them again on Monday. But really, unless I can get a quote closer to half of the S&S cost (which is unlikely it seems) then it's not worth if for me. Heck, even at a total cost of $350 I'll be considering it very carefully. Will let you know but don't hold it on my account if you have interest from elsewhere.

Since my last post: New engine mounts from an e24 635i, new transmission mounts from an auto e21. Both beefier rubber but approx same dimensions. New rotors, EBC redstuff pads. Big improvement. New exhaust from downpipes. e46 M3 midsection and Audi S5 rear muffler. Overall the new exhaust has improved drivability a lot - solved some funky vibrations due to the large stock midsection touching the driveshaft hoops, plus the removal of the restriction of a stock 2.5L M20 exhaust seems to have improved the pickup somewhat (obviously speaking subjectively). Unfortunately a nasty resonance about 2k RPM, but have a much larger Magnaflow dual>dual coming from the US which will hopefully help. Love the new tips though.

The engine is back in the car and all bolted in. I need to remount the alternator and power steering pump as they wont fit between the engine and chassis rail. you can see that its tight for the exhaust to clear the steering I moved the fuel lines and brake lines to be clear of the left exhaust WIN! the v8 shifter is a direct replacement for the standard e46 unit
