Over two years since I last updated this, wow... Yellowspeed coilovers have been fitted, I did buy some brand new genuine lower sill covers. Just need to get them painted and fitted. I've started a manual conversion on it just need to put the gearbox back in and bolt the driveshaft up. Fixed rocker cover gasket leak and painted the cover while it was off. And during lockdown, had enough time to get these all finished! Happy how these came out, just need some tyre valves and we are are away. Final specs are 16x9 et0 and 16x9.5 et6. Bit more aggressive than i intended but should still look alright

Hello everyone, I'm Damien and recently purchased a 2007 130i. 92km's on the clock, really tidy inside and out. This will be an enjoyable daily! First BMW, traditionally owned Jap cars, current project car is a 1991 R32 Skyline. Read a bit of the forums, introduced myself to HellBMW who I will be visiting soon to give it a once over. I don't plan on doing too much to it as it's meant to be a reliable daily, however some things I would like to have a crack at are replacing the yellow bulbs in my angel eyes (I believe this car is an LCI so uses the H8?), fitting a bluetooth receiver (I can't seem to find any bluetooth transmitter in the car even though it has phone buttons on the wheel and has iDrive), as well as some cosmetic changes. It has an aftermarket exhaust with the rear muffler removed so is a tad loud so may address that down the line. Other than that, looking forward to expanding my knowledge of these cars and enjoying the experience!

Hi Scott, sorry to jump belatedly on this thread. The reason I am typing these words is because of the 635csi. My first car love was the BMW 635csi. My best friend's dad was a mega -successful architect - and his salad days were the 1980's. In 1982, had a blue 633csi. That was followed by a UK imported, 1983 635csi in Royal Blue with black recaro seats. I was smitten by that car. I remember that car like it was yesterday. He proceeded to delve into the world of Ferrari's - but I recall in 88 - he bought another 635csi in royal blue for his wife. Such a stunning car!!! My dream was to get one - a dream fulfilled in 1999 when I bought a 1989 635csi Highline - in Burgundy / cream leather - at the time one of the best examples in NZ. This car has been discussed a few times before. I have a register of M635csi's in NZ ( 20 examples in NZ new plus various imports). As for 635csi's I was told in 99 that there were over 100 in NZ. They were popular - despite their $125k price tags when BMW NZ imported them in from around 84/85. Sadly rust has affected many - with many once fabulous UK examples now dead and I have heard of a few NZ new examples been affected too. Sorry - hard to determine accurately how many live today. However, not many 1979 examples with a body kit, adorned in Henna red!

No it's still kicking. I left at the start of the year to pursue something else, unfortunately that hasn't worked out due to the current situation so currently jobless. Thankfully the Mrs is still bringing home a fulltime wage but won't be for too much longer as she goes on maternity leave at the end of June

Things to look out for... - Buying cars that can’t be complied in NZ ( happens a lot, plus new ESC rule just come in) - Additional costs at compliance. It’s not just a WoF check so likely to get a few things to replace - on later cars GPS and Nav updates will need to be done. Other than that it could be a good time to buy, low demand in Japan should give some low sale prices. Not sure what the exchange rate is doing. I’ll leave the Jap Import Bingo for the others... and go!

So after several months of waiting and collecting parts, I have now managed to install the - New Engine Mounts - New Front and Rear suspension bushes - Rear adjustable suspension mounts - New Rear brake rotors and pads Have also had the diff reconditioned and awaiting the new diff oil. Once done, I can then mount the diff to the swapped out drive shafts and hopefully start it up and take it for a test drive after bleeding the brakes and some misc wiring etc And in other good news, have managed to suss out a painter and an ex certifier to assist with some paper work etc
