More useless info, the E34 Alpina Bi Turbo even had gearbox/diff oil coolers mounted in the rear bumper.
Thats quality work.
-
Looks like a good deal
Are you still looking for an E46 Boris?
Only buy NZ New cars Yuen unless i know its iron clad history.
-
Low priced E46 330i on TradeYou? You guys would know how much work/faults it may have with that mileage.

Top gear from those guys, as said above Andrew is building one. Lots of dollars for N/A, work hard for each HP, turbo will give more PWR/TRQ & it doesn't care above 2 valve heads.
Why not just buy an M30 big block 3.5ltr and drop that in??
-
yeah hav had contact with him through verious forums.
interesting setups.big $$'s spent.but apparently very drivable at all speeds.
an awesome effort,we'll see if i can get my e34 to purrrr, this year
Twin Turbo??

Yes, thats right. The economy is better when cruising at a good pace, engine runs so much better tho, fueling/timing optimised to an old(like it's owner) engine.surely running 98 would allow you advance the timing more than 95 would though? and give you an increase in economy?
-
does the E 34 benefit from 98??but you are chipped and afm delete arent you??
No chip remember, MapEcu 2, laptop programming.
Only benefits because of timing advanced 8-9 degrees at top end of rev range.Map has ability to run 2 diff maps, i could tune a map on 91 or 95 and have that also and just switch over at will.
I am not getting the full benefit of 98 because my engine is completely stock, 10:1 compression would boost pwr considerably.
The numbers denote the amount of advance over stock, 0=stock, 2= 2 deg advance, etc etc.
-
in a short answer;YES
3.8L,lightened crank,bigger valves,forged bits,etc,etc.
should up these numbers to shame. new under-ware on order
only hold up is $$.selling what i have will help
Start up a fund on Bimmersport for the project! "Save the Topcat fund" please donate all loose coin.
Have you seen this dudes cars in the states? E34 turbo + E30 M3 shell Turbo, both M30 engines.

Interesting article ... they are a little wrong around M3 stuff not fitting the non m models. it does .. you have to either widen the guards (as I have) or mold the front bumper and rear bumper to fit. Side skirts will bolt striaght on.
Article spans E21-E46, Total BMW & BMW Car are both good mags.
Any idea which manual box you can fit to an E46 330i?
-
User pays gone mad, another dopey pc idea like carbon credits etc etc etc.
-
The M30 suits fi, those figures for a quick tune are fantastic.
Intercooler must work, pity the project didn't suit/or work out.
Are you building a replacement Topcat??
-
-
Getting pricey. The E34 chomped thru $130 at last fill on 98.
A brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyre is only $250, fuel is way out of proportion compared to other costs.
-
He must think he can turn a quick buck.
-
just found this now,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-FIC-Fue...1QQcmdZViewItem
does anyone know if you can get a automotive electrition to wire this into your car, or does it have to fit?
If you have a quick read it allows timing retardation but not advance.
-
ok, thanks. but just incase i run into moeny probs along the way, the mapecu 1 will work?
thanks
Chris
Chris, you need FULL control of timing. You cannot compromise ignition timing on forced induction.
Reliable power costs money, if in doubt save more money.
-
Hey dude, i said go for Mapecu 2. This gives advance & retard control of your timing as well as the fuel control + you can run additional injectors plus a host of other stuff.Read up on it.yes, no i think it will fit, the flange on the turbo will sit closer to the front so it wont be in the way of the sterring colum. other than that i will just do the rest my self.
i think ive got my piggyback system sussd out. someone earlier on said to go for a "map-ecu" (a brand by the way) but they have two models available. ones alot cheaper than the other and i was wondering if it would do the job. please tell me if this is so asap.

thanks
Chris
I'm running Map2 on my stock M30 engine, if you look overseas everyone does custom fuel/timing mapping now.
Dump the crap AFM and go MAP.
You have to make decisions on your project that are sound, go for the best your budget can afford. You need accurate info, my mapping is in the gallery.
-
One option is to keep stock ecu etc, remove barn door AFM and piggy back MapEcu 2. This will give you full control over fuel & timing, otherwise complete full new ecu setup required.
www.mapecu.com support kiwi ingenuity!
Everything costs big money when you start mods etc.
-
FAB BMW dismantlers in the UK convert E46 M3 SMG boxes to manual. They convert and sell with engine packages etc, E36 prob diff.
Just more useless info.
-
Very nice E30, if you come to Auckland look us up for a tour of the town.
-
Very nice! Alpina's live again.
-
HB! All the best! Fitted those Alpina's yet??
-
Yes, it's an awesome car. I had a look at the demo in Conti's when they were re-doing the Ferrari showroom.
Looks superb in the flesh. Wait for the next Quattroporte when it comes out. With a 4.7l Ferrari V8.
Automotive Art, stunning interiors also, Pininfarina Style.
Bangle lacks all that is present in that car.
Total BMW E30 Article.
