  1. Have a look around at what similar condition 318i's are worth. If they are going for more, offer the $500. Spend a couple of hundred tidying it up, wof n reg and you might get $1500 for it Then rinse and repeat on another vehicle
  2. My ex and I drove six different BMW's from yards all around Christchurch. None wanted to go with us. Even one prestigious yard didn't even ask for our keys or a look at our licences, the salesman just threw us the keys and said "See you in about half an hour".
  3. OMG my best mate and I used to rock out to that when we were 11 back in '91 LOL
  4. New Teenage Bottlerocket video. Loving the pop punk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHsOsKsdhCg
  5. I'm in Christchurch. Will book it in Monday for a scan
  6. Our e36 328i coupe has every now and again stalled at low speed or at idle, like turning into a carpark. Its auto. Not really sure what it could be, leads plugs, fuel system? It does seem rather hesitant after we start the car up again. thanks
  7. They are not all 4wd. The Escort Cossies are 4wd, along with the 4x4 sedans, the 3 door Sierra and Sapphire sedan are RWD.
  8. Took it to another Testing Station today and passed no questions asked
  9. Thats the thing. They came on the car ex Japan. So was complied with them and has 3 WOF's since we have owned it all at testing stations.
  10. Yeah I'm gonna have to take a photo or something, because at night they are super visible. I walked about 250 metres up the road at night and could still see them. Thats why I checked the WOF rules which has the magic sentence; under normal darkness.
  11. Failed a WOF last week with our E36 coupe because the 'forward positioning lamps need to be more effective'. In other words, your park lights are too dim. Now the problem is, the lights are fine at night. You can see the park lights a few hundred metres away, however during the day they are faint as anything, which shouldn't matter because its during the day. WOF manual says reason for rejection is 'under normal darkness can't see the forward positioning lamps from a distance of 200metres'. Since you can't get a WOF under darkness this becomes a problem... Anyone else have similar problems?
  12. Failed a WOF about ten years ago with my old Alfa Romeo 75 for a cut parcel tray. Had the car about three years and the last WOF was to sell it. I had removed the speakers and the holes were showing. WOF tester took one look and told me to fix it. Took it to local panel beaters who welded a new panel underneath and then retrimmed over the top.
  13. Yeah thats a mess, a few look like wof typos, but others look just like blatant winding back.
  14. I see a yard in Christchurch is selling an e34? m5. I ran the plates on this site. Looks like someone wound the kms back to 69,000 in 2000 or 2001 from 156,000 Not a wof typo either because the kms keep climbing after and before the wind back date. http://www.carfax.co.nz/car/?plate=aqf174&...h=CarFax+Search http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-136813624.htm
  15. Our e36 328i coupe doesn't have a spoiler and the other half wants one. Easiest way would be to trade our non spoiler boot for someone elese with spoiler. Would save them having to pay for the holes being welded up and painted once they removed the spoiler Or if you have a spoiler let me know cheers al
  16. Around Xmas time our e36 328i coupe produced the ABS light. With no dealer nearby, and the ones that were less than 2 hrs away were booked solid for two weeks, even for a fault code check. We started with the fuses and relays which seemed ok, could cycle the ABS pump, etc. Next was the sensors on each wheel, they all measured 1.1k on the multimeter, so they were fine. Cleaned at same time. We were stumped, and not being able to get the fault codes out without visiting the stealership pissed us off haha. Took it into the stealership, three fault codes came up. Two were fixed with a relay replacement at $74+gst + labour of some huge amount + code check of $30+gst. Code 33 remained. Operation of rear inlet valve faulty. Basically means you need a new ABS module. BMW price? forget it, well over $1000 + extortionate labour charge. They suggested some engineering firm in Tauranga I think, at a cost of $450+ to repair the unit. I had also seen a guy advertising on Trademe for $250, this looked like a better deal. But thought we could do it for cheaper. How much cheaper? 76 cents. The cost of the wire to rewire the solenoids in the module. Nothing wrong with the valves at all, just the sh*t wiring that ATE did when the car was built. Heres a link how to http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/203293 If you have a ABS problem with your e36 emitting valve codes it will more than likely be the wiring inside the unit.
  17. Just checked each wheel sensor instead. They were all 1.1k resistance so its not the sensors Have d/c the battery to reset OBC. Hopefully clears the ABS light, if not its off to BMW.
  18. I need a pinout diagram or at least the pairs of pins for the each wheel sensor for the ABS, have found the ABS module behind glovebox but the pinout diagram is for a 55 pin board, mine has around 40 or so. thanks

    ABS light on

Just hope its a bad sensor. They are easy to replace and cheap. $34+gst for the front and $38+gst for the rear for genuine parts. Who said BMW parts were expensive, its just that Toyotas wouldn't crap themselves at 76km like our BMW. lol If you can check your sensors with a multimeter they should be ideally somewhere around 1k resistance.
  20. Right my gf's e36 328i has had the ABS light on for a wee bit. The ABS doesn't work, but the pump still cycles when you play with the relay. I have taken the wheels off and cleaned and checked the sensors. The fuses are all fine. The yellow ABS light still remains. The only other thing I'm gonna do is pull the plug out of the ABS unit and check each sensor monopole with a multimeter and see if one is down. Is there something I have missed? We haven't moved the car since doing these tests, does taking it for a drive clear the light if the sensors were just dirty?
  21. Because if they are fitted they have to work properly. Kinda like a spare tyre, if its not bolted in properly they can fail you, but you can just take it out pre WOF and it will pass.
  22. My biggest peeve is TradeMe itself. Its so big it doesn't care. There was a car bought for $3000 on TradeMe the other week by auction. The high bidder contacted the seller to arrange pickup. The seller was either a noob or greedy or both. They had contacted another bidder outside TM and sold the car to them for $3500. The seller then tried to get their success fees back from TM saying the successful bidder hadn't come through with the cash, even though they were ready to pickup car with cash. Bidder contacts TradeMe and got the whole 'use the feedback system' line.
  23. The majority of fog lights are brighter than standard low beams. When you have been blinded by some munters fogs you will understand. If you want extra visibility during the day use the headlights.
