Dragging up an old thread I know (but the search is a wonderful thing) Did any of you guys have any fun with the NZ distributors on this ? Or did any of you end up with bushes from powerflex themselves ? I see Gus did, what did you think of them mate. They are now doing them for the e38 and several friends in the UK have done a group buy on them and say they are nothing short of brilliant. What concerns me though is that they have all said that you really do feel every bump and pothole that you go over which when you consider the state of the roads over here to the UK has me wondering if they may be a little harsh for over here. Keen to here anyones opinions on this.

--> QUOTE(John B @ Aug 1 2006, 09:57 AM) 88796 The plastic moulding for the euro plate was a much easier exercise than I thought. The part was available across the counter from Team McMillan for $85.33 + GST (part number B51118244354; description 'Licence Plate Base'). Damn little 3 series, the reason I said it would be expensive was because I was quited over 600 when I thought about replacing my UK ones with NZ ones !

HB Tim Am I the only one who can call you little fella ?

I wouldnt screw it on. What I did was got some excellent double-sided foam tape and stuck it on. Looks much better without screws

Sorry are we talking about europlates or the plastic moulded part of the bumper ?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(John B @ Jul 30 2006, 04:44 PM) 88583</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> Sorry Martyyn, being part of the older 'non-text', 'non-abbreviation' generation - and this is the very first forum I've ever used - I'm not up on the short, cryptic replys. Is *cough* a derogatory comment (are the Shadowlines not popular / unloved in NZ?), or am I reading your meaning incorrectly? John, No it wasnt a derogatory comment, as Cain was saying I was just pointing out that I have an e38 740i shadowline with the sports package and 18' polished rim m-pars....as in my sig You are right, they are reasonably common in the UK but less so here. I havent seen very many 740's at all in Wellington and for a while mine (brought with me from the UK) was the only shadowline with 18' wheels that Id seen in Wellington. Cheers Martyn

Im not sure on the e46 (is 99 e36 or e46 ?) but the e38's have three pieces of plastic across the front and the center one can indeed be replaced to take the different plates. As you would expect thought the dealers want an arm and a leg for them so a wreckers may be your best bet.

One is a 99 540i/6 the other an 01 540M, both have the M62 4.4 V8 - the same as me.

Im willing to be proved wrong but I have two friends with e39 v8's that dont do this....mine on the other hand

For angel eyes and xenon including shipping its USD 800 Yes its expensive but if you have to buy the whole lot to be legal then thats what you have to pay. Dont forget that for an e38 there is feck all options, its not like people are falling over themselves to make addons for the barge. Cheers Martyn

Is this right ? E38's were shipped with xenon lights from the factory that were neither self-levelling nor had headlamp washers.....what headlamp washers have to do with it I dont know ! Anyway this is what it says on the LTNZ website. High intensity discharge (HID) conversion kits HID conversion kits (an HID bulb with a high voltage power unit or ‘ballast’ which fits into the original headlamp unit in place of the original bulb with no change to the headlamp lens, reflector or housing) are illegal on any vehicle being used on New Zealand roads. However, a complete halogen headlamp unit can be replaced with a complete HID headlamp unit provided that the replacement headlamp unit complies with approved standards. If in doubt, get advice from a vehicle lighting retailer you trust. So aslong as the replacement is the entire headlamp then you look safe enough. Im talking to the Umnitza blokes in the States right now about getting some xenons with angel eyes for the 740 and they are convinced the whole replacement is ok Cheers Martyn

Why cant people put on some decent fecking photos. The ones he has on his auction are just shite. Let us know how it goes Paul, would like to see how it compares to my mates e39 6-speed !

Dont forget to take photos Jochen, Im really interested to see how you get on with this. Cheers Martyn

My 6600 is just used for the tv/playing dvds etc, so I havent bothered with trying to speed it up. If I play any games then I plug the laptop into the lcd and with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard I can play from anywhere A friend has just bought a projector and gets a brilliant picture about 10 foot across, Im looking forward to a bit of live for speed on that !

Go for the highest you can get Jochen. The V8's especially love the higer octane.

They are taking off, a minute to go and they are just over a grand [edit] Auction just finished, went to a guy who has bought two other sets of BMW alloys in the last couple of months for 1170. A couple of things would be a concern, one is that he says they came off an e36 but the Alpina stuff Ive found on the web tell me they are for e46. Are they interchangable ? Also that the part numbers mentioned are 17' not 18' Still if I had something to put them on I wouldve had them

Ive not used rivatuner yet....I put a 6600 in my shuttle last night to handle the HDTV stuff Ive acquired on my LCD and it comes with it so Im sure Ill get around to it But I have I used the overclocking functions on the 6800 in my laptop and it increased my 2005 3D marks from 3068 to 3838 and it wouldve gone higher if I couldve been bothered to bump it manually.

Ive just done Wellington to Taupo to Hamilton to Tokoroa to Turangi to Wellington, so thats what....1200 km's give or take and overall my mpg was 25.9 (around 11 in todays money I think) and just over a tank and a half of gas at 150 dollars a tank. Much better than the 14mpg I get poodling around Wellington in first and second gears. It was interesting to find out that 4h gear at 4000 revs is a needle's width shy of 200kph....so Im told.

Why tell a complete stranger on trademe that they could get way more than they are asking :banghead: Just slap the money in his hand, thank him for the trade and stick those babies on your car. Glenn, I would consider it if it didnt cost the best part of 1500 to do the 5lug conversion in the first place !
