Happy Birthday Princess..... Im sure it was a succesful one

Ive always put my name forward to help Andrew, but as yet nothing has come of it. Do I take it that I should stop trying
-
I dont know if the price is an e38 vs e39 thing but I have friends who have retro-fitted 16:9 screens, dvd players and full sat nav options into their e38's for under a 1000 gbp.Thats an awful lot less than nzd 5000

There is some software that will record from either media player or real player, called WM recroder and RM recorder funnily enough Several people I know use it to record streaming tv off the web

Paul,Im pretty sure you need an e36 or Z3 stereo dont you rather than an e39. Some random quote off the web.... <quote> The BMW Business CD/Radio (CD43) and the Business Cassette Radio (C33) for the Z3 & E36 3 series will work in the (1991-up) E32 & E34 and the E38 (1995-9/1998 mfg date). This mod was brought to the E32 message board at "Roadfly.org" by member Ben Cannon. Ben also states that for models built prior to the 1991 model year..."I had to splice in a later modular-type BMW connector (1991 and later E32/E34 owners shouldn't need to go to this trouble, as BMW adopted this connector in '91 and stayed with it untill 2003..." </quote> or even better Clickety Click

What he said.....I know its little consolation, but at least its something that can be repaired simply and they didnt knife the seats, scratch the car or steal anything. Still sucks though....but what sweet seats

Unless its stated in your contract that you cannot join the opposition for a period of time !However you can always argue against that as the contract is null and void, for all intents and purposes, once you leave The only sensible way is to negotiate with your current employer. Tell them you want a clean break and want to leave under the best possible circumstances. Ive done this a couple of times and have never had trouble leaving early. If they wont play ball state your prepared to take any sick leave and holidays your owed, but dont threaten the with and see what the reaction is. If they still wont play ball then do the time. Dont do anything that will come back to haunt you later. NZ is too small to p!ss people off in my experience. Is your desire to get out early because your new place want you asap or because you want out ?

The e32 750iL that used this motor had 300 bhp and the Alpina B12 had 350. So Id be questioning what makes him think he has 350+Unless its the bloke who bought the unregisterable B12 last year and he ripped the motor out

I brought several bottles with me, but they will ship worldwide.

<quote> BMW 5ltr V12 alloy ,very light very good on fuel. </quote> I want a pint of what he's drinking....hold on maybe its the fuel ! <quote> ....350+ HP.... </quote> I dont see any Alpina goodies, and they were the only people to get 350 bhp out of that engine Cant deny Id want a go though

Me too. Some interesting questions, a straight yes/no is sometimes very difficult to answer, so having text boxes is always useful. For me it comes down to what the person wants to use it for. Thinking positivley I think this sort of thing can be great, I already use a pc to control all my tv recording (think mysky), my music, my dvd's, my photos etc so why wouldnt I want to control everything from whereever I am ? The one major worry would be how secure it was when it goes mobile.

What actually happened was that The Verve and The Stones reached an licensing agreement well before it was released. The Stones got the hump when it turned out to sell by the bucket load and argued The Verve had used too much as a sample and ended up winning 100% of the loyalties. The Verve offered to give every penny to charity but The Stones refused. The Stones then sold the rights to the song to various companies to use for advertising and in the end The Verve got absolutely nothing after making it a huge success.

I wouldnt worry. Carl needs things like this to fill his life up, otherwise he'd spend all day picking up p0rn for Tane.

Thanks for the post Rog. It's interesting that the only one I fit there is tints. But seeing as its perfectly legal for me to have tints (and they are of a legal standard) I still dont see a reason for running my plates other than 'because I can'. If Im being perfectly honest I find most of those 'reasons' to be quite laughable....stopping people for bad dress sense and bad taste in music...come on do they really have nothing better to do ? Is it any wonder that some people feel victimised by the police simply because of their age, the way they dress, the music they listen to or the car they drive ? Id be interested to know what sort of percentages we are talking about here. What I mean is if we took all the drivers in NZ with tints....how many are criminals, or how many black CRX owners are very young unlicenced drivers ? Do the percentages really justify such specific things to look for ?
-
To those who have driven with them on without noticing....do you not have a bright light on the dash telling you they are on ? I totally agree with you Jim, on the open road having lights on of some sort it an excellent idea, especially when its very flat and the sun is setting. What I meant was is that to me, there is no excuse for it during the day.
-
<soap box mode> I fcuking hate fog lights on during the day. There is no need for it and all they do is dazzle other drivers. Anyone who has them on is obviously compensating for having a small..... As for having the rears on, there is just no excuse. I have seriously considered bodily harm to those who are driving around with them on and then give me the fingers when I point out they are blinding everyone. Maybe Im getting old but I passed that 'I have them on to look cool' phase years ago. Have more consideration for others on the road and turn the fecking things off. Unless of course the fog is horrible and you cant see a thing ;-) </soap box mode>

Right Ive had a poke around the old WWW as this was a subject very close to my heart two years ago when I had to spend 1k gbp for new cats. Removing them is only any good if you have an engine remap....so I assume youve had that done. Otherwise the engine is going to be forever looking for a reading from the sensor that its not going to get. You can remove the sensors, but they probably shouldve been removed when the cats were removed. You _may_ get 15-20bhp by doing this but where you will lose is on the emission tests that are supposed to be coming in soon. In the UK a de-catted 740 will fail its MOT simply on emissions....unless you spray some poxy stuff into it first and take it for a blat down the motorway and pray to the heavens. For the short term in NZ you are ok, but Im sure they are supposed to be bringing emissions testing in, so you may have trouble, I dont know. Personally I chose to replace them rather than remove them because at the time it was more trouble than it was worth to remove them. So get down to whoever took them out for you (unless it was you) and get them to remove the sensors and disconnect the wires etc. Otherwise as Tim says, take the bulb out
-
Other than remove the sensors Im not sure you can. Is it wise to remove the cats from one that has them ? Ive heard you can seriously bugger your car if you remove the cats from an engine thats set up for them. It will forever struggle to get the right mixture wont it ? Non techincal terms there obviously

Thanks chaps, but it looks all sorted now. He contacted the finance company for the car he wanted and they confirmed it was a problem with the LTNZ agent entering the number. Not sure exactly how they worked it out, but they said there was no errors when they were doing the financing and they wouldnt have accepted the finance on the car if there had been an error beforehand, and that was that. FYI my friend has just bought a e39, 6-speed manual 540i and my god does it fly.

A friend has just done a VIR check on a 540 he is buying and the VIN has come up with two cars. One the 540 he wants and the other a 520. The website says this is a common situation as the VIN is long and mistakes are made when typing it in. Both cars show as having finance owing. He knows all about the one he wants, but is concerned the other is showing up. Is this something to be worried about ?
