Crickey Andy youve gone and put the sh!ts right up him now !! As for the wheels Trademe will always be your best bet. There are a couple of sets available now, but none like you have posted.
-
Haha, always the passenger one that gets knackered.....Im wondering if Sam has mentioned how good the e30 is in the thread about 'relations' !
-
Id say you had nothing to stand on. Unfortunately even if you had done it through TradeMe you still wouldnt have anything to go on because they take no part in disputes whatsoever.Dont be fooled by all the rubbish about a bid being legally binding (of course it is - legally binding that is) but if the seller does a runner they will just tell you to go to the small claims court. Looks like your monies gone my friend.

You mean that wasnt long enough

Why didnt you ask him what he thought it was ? Surely if he found them squeeking he worked out why ?

That drivers seat looks ok mate, whats the problem with it ?

Brilliant write up....just what we could do with more of on this site. It doesnt matter how simple it appears getting stuff like this up helps everyone. Well done chaps. -
I can vouch for this :pimp:

Fair enough Andy, but there is nothing wrong with them that cant be fixed so Im just planning on doing what I can as I go along. Its not like they grow on trees after all !

I have a set for a 2 door. Fronts and rear. The drivers seat needs repairing which Im having done next week and the seat is torn with a rangi patch on it to stop it getting worse. The passenger seat is sweet, as are the rears. I was thinking of keeping them in case I buy a 2 door later down the line but make me an offer you never know your luck.

It looks like I could snap it in half with my bare hands !

Hmmm, I dont want to rain on your parade and truely hope youve got a great car at a bargain price, but a 95 740i thats supposedly had heaps of money spent on it but is still not mint (cracked rubbers, paint scratches, leather with air pockets, very dirty engine, hoses that need replacing etc) that he's happy to take 7.5k for......sounds suspicious. Also you dont 'glue on' trim in a 740 my friend, you buy the clips from the dealer and do it properly

I was wondering if there is anyone in the Wellington area who can help me repair a seat. The base has already been broken once and someone has done a half-ar$ed attempt to weld it but thats broken too now with my lardy ar$e sitting in it. The seat is stripped down and it looks a simple enough job but I need someone who really knows what they are doing to tell me if it can be repaired or not. Im pretty sure it can but it looks like its going to need something more than just being stuck back together again with some basic welding. If anyone can help please give me a shout, or else I shall be talking to the boys at Page's to see if they can sort it out for me.

Give me a ring mate Ill sort you out.

Im with Cain and Jochen it doesnt matter whether its old or new. Ive twice walked in and given them the exact part number telling them my car has the individual wood in it and BOTH times they ordered a completely different part because...and I quote 'we didnt think you had given us the right number' Both times I refused to have the incorrect part fitted and both times I was promised they would have the correct one in two weeks. On neither occasion have they called me back.

Im sorry to hear that Rog. Ive lost two uncles and a sister-in-law in road accidents and the affect on the families that are left behind cannot be under estimated.
-
There is no reason they cant give you a price straight away. If youve given them the part number thats all they need, Ive sat with Shelley's people often enough with a list of part numbers and they have the prices come up and whether they are local or overseas. Another nail in the dealers coffin ? See if you can find the part number on ebay....Im always amazed at how much stuff I can find with the part number !

There are ALOT of these cars around at the moment. I suggest you do your homework and make sure you get something with all the toys. Jochen can convert your tv and sat nav etc and I would seriously consider you getting something that he can convert. As Cain says, Nikasil was a major issue around the world but that was were petrol had a high sulphur content which I believe NZ didnt have. They are excellent on a long run, but around town you are going to get nothing better than 15/16 mpg. In Wellington I get around 14 as Im up and down hills all the time. The standard suspension can be a little soft after time and they are heavy cars, so if its been thrown around a little the front suspension/steering might be due for a little repair. Look out for a shaking steering wheel at about 55/60 mph, thats the first sign that something is getting soft. For cruising, I honestly dont think you will find anything better. Send me a PM if you have any specific questions you want answering. I was going to reply here earlier but have been too busy

I saw two in one car yard yesterday, one yellow the other silver....couldnt see myself being able to get into one though they are tiny !

All you guys who think 5's and 7's are too big for town driving are pussies. Ive spent the last 2 years with my 740 in Wellington and 5 years previous to that with my 750iL in central London and never had a problem getting around town. Maybe I have a talent for handling large items in confined spaces, I dont know m_reaney just hit the nail on the head....its all about how the car makes you feel when your driving it. If your happy in a Corolla with the wing mirror falling off with dents and scratches all over it then fair play to you, but I want the best car I can get for my daily. Ive been without my 740 for three days now and Im desperate to get it back.

Is that what you told Jess (?) on Friday night when the pair of you did a disappearing act on us ?Sorry Em, back on topic. I agree with everyone else that you should learn in a manual (if you can) but more importantly you should sit your test in a manual. If you end up buying an auto then so be it, but if you sit it in an auto and then some bloke offers you an m325i for 2.5k you'll be kicking yourself
-
Why ?IMO if its a daily then it has to be something you really enjoy, you are after all driving it every day. An e39 M5 would do me just nicely, but so would an e39 540/6. Couldnt seem myself going smaller than a 5 (those who know me will understand why) and it would have to be something with a bit of punch and all the mod cons. So a 760Li it is then
