  1. A satisfied Shelly's customer !!!!!Didnt think they existed Andy do you think its worth having a 'I got a good deal from' section as this is the third time weve had a 'where to go for a service in Wellington' thread. Page is the place to go, there are plenty of us going there and they are the business. Not much cheaper than Shelly's but they know what they are talking about and always look for options other than BMW parts if they can....you can even wangle a free bevvie if you are there on a Friday :pimp:
  2. Maybe they dont know when your taking the pi$$ I have read them.....some quality advice.

    Tyres

Ive just finished a set of these on the 740. Nice and grippy, but pretty noisy when compared to the Dunlop Sport 01's I have now thanks to Jim.I was reasonably impressed with the Falkens, but what surprised me was how quickly they went bald when it was obvious to me they were going. They certainly arent the longest lasting tyre that Ive had and if push came to shove I think I would take the Dunlops I have now over them. Having said that I do miss the extra 20 ml I had with the 275's rather than the 255's I have now on the rear !
  4. Has to be a set of M-Pars doesnt it.... Heaven knows where you would get some in NZ though

    The Hate Thread

Are you guys telling me that 98 is no longer going to be available ? Been out of the news loop recently so I have no idea whats going on. I have noticed though that 98 hasnt been available the last couple of times Ive filled up.
  6. Im feeling a little lonely Perhaps what your trying to say Carl is 61 members willing to contribute in this thread rather than active members. Its a shame more people dont join in. Was great to see some new faces at the pub the other night....although to be fair two were Andy and Dan ! You dont have to be a BMW geek to participate, Im evidence of that so come on people tell us what youve got....there's no need to be afraid.
  7. Very nice Andrew, she is looking gorgeous....could do with black kidneys though

    Skype

Not true....You can subscribe to SkypeOut and dial anyone in the world. Works pretty well too. How the telcos can justiy charging me 87 cents a minute to Holland when I can Skype for 3 cents a minute beggars belief. Its great when your playing online with a few mates aswell Im just looking to get a handset that you plug into your pc and normal phone line and it receives all calls 'normally' be they Skype or landline.
  9. Last person Id expect to see reading a womans mag
  10. Do you have anything for the humble e38 ?Dont have anything specifically in mind, just curious.
  11. Hmmmmmm, driving a new car makes you a snob does it ?
  12. Keep it chrome mate....looks great against the white.
  13. Sorry mate, I prefer it chromed. I dont think the black suits your lighter coloured car. Are those eyelids painted to match or not, cant really see in the photo myself. Ultimately its whatever floats your boat....or not as was the case in Wellington today !
  14. I can afford the proper things, but fail to see why I should have to pay such an inordinate amount of money for the things.Jazz, if you want a GB plate like mine rather than a German one let me know and Ill try and dig out the website of the place I got mine from when I was over there. Was thenumberplatewarehouse.com or something.
  15. I brought my 740 over last year and the hassle factor nearly killed me after the shipping company fcuked up and did this to it. Anglo Pacific - NEVER EVER TRUST THEM Would I do it again ? Absolutely. If youve got a nice car that is rare (or very expensive) over here then bring it over, the compliance etc is not that difficult. Customs are just so far up there own arse that its usually best not to talk to them at all and just pay the money and MAF will just want to check it over for bugs and stuff but a good clean before you leave will sort that out. Neal, I know how cheap the cars are in the UK so bring it over and have some fun. Just dont go near Anglo Pacific. If you want to know anymore about my experience feel free to PM me.
  16. When you go through the loop dont print each 'field' to your html, concatenate them to a temp string. Once your loop has finished concatenating each field print the line out in one go.
  17. So are you saying that the kit is rare but the ECU is easily accessible ?In that case then go with the kit now and get the ECU when you have the cash agian. Rarity will always add to the value. I kick myself everyday that I didnt buy the Eisenmann exhaust on Trademe a couple of months ago (hand built for my e38 740 and everything). It was such a bargain it wasnt funny but I thought there would be another when I was better placed in the money department. Needless to say I have the money now but now Eisenmann exhaust to spend it on

    Myth Busters

SAS: Are You Tough Enough a few months ago showed you want a bullet actually does. They stuck a landrover 50 yards away and hung water melons inside as the melon has the same water content as a human head. They had a couple of SAS dudes fire into the landrover and each melon was blown to pieces in a single hit. The landrover ended up like a seive. They then shot into a dead pig to show what damage is done internally to a body and it was gut wrenching. The entry wound is only 5% of the damage when a bullet enters the body. oh and the SAS would waste any ninja's in town
  19. Aint that the truth. If you go with the kit everyone will assume you have the go and it will be frustrating as hell knowing you dont.

I wont bother to cut and paste everyones points but I hope Ill get to all of them. Andrew, The reason for bringing it up was not to remove the mods, I think they do a sterling job, its just an option some other forums have. It has been abused by one or two who have felt wronged by the admins, but Ive always liked the personal one as it sort of shows who you can trust and who you cant. Sad that Im thinking about who to trust but there you go. Personally I think if Damian wants to take the approach he does (and I have no problem with it probably because Im not on the receiving end ;-)) then I think he should be a pleb like the rest of us rather than a mod....thats just my opinion and its not meant as a dig at him. I have found alot of his stuff very funny recently but I can see why others havent. As for locking the thread, I have no problem with that and wasnt looking for an explaination. I think everyone could see where it was heading. Grant, I can understand what your saying about it only being the internet, but its because its only the internet that I believe this sort of thing needs to be moderated. I personally wont post anything I wouldnt say to someones face. But others are willing to use the anonymity to do the opposite. Perhaps if one or two individuals got an i-slap they might think about what they are writing the next time. *sic, It never ceases to amaze me how you manage to rub people up so much my friend....you have a talent Ill give you that Jazz, I think the system would only be exploited by those who fail to show any self restraint already, so perhaps you right. None of this would be necessary if people thought about what they were writing rather than just letting fly.

This is more of a question for Andrew but I wondered if anyone else had a viewpoint on this subject. Im on two other forums whereby members can 'self-police' the posts made by others. One forum allows you to give plus or minus' to a member in general if they consider a post to be inappropriate, the other gives the vote to the post itself and if it gets a certain number of votes its deleted. The reason I bring this up is that we had (what I thought) was a perfectly reasonable thread locked due to several postings that were just wrong. I have no complaints about the thread being locked but if there was a method whereby we could 'downgrade' a message until it was removed would we need to lock threads at all ? I dont know if this is an option on the forum software or even if the powers that be are interested in it if it were, but I thought Id mention it.
  22. Fair play...the word 'provoking' was not the best choice. The guy was a dick before Damian was on the scene granted, but the decision to 'stick on his arse like a dag' I believe was the wrong one. Let the guy cause the grief by himself. Ive seen what it does to families to have people killed on the roads and its not something I would want on my conscious if I was the 'lucky' one that survived.
