They do look good but at $1200 from the dealer I think Ill use the red tint spray I have and make them all red !
-
On the list (in no particular order) is.... Angel eye fronts and clear sides. facelift grill in either black or shadowchrome, havent decided which yet. Either clear rears (if I can find some) or tint the rears all red (more than likely). Alpina front spoiler (just missed one on ebay for 50 notes). Shadowlined bumper strips (those at knee height). msport steering wheel. hook up the ipod. get the sat nav going and get a 16:9 screen and a few others I cant think of right now.

You guys have missed the boat havent you? The dollar has fallen through the floor meaning its already more expensive to buy the car initially. I was looking at e39 M5's about a year ago and didnt find a single one that was RHD. I doubt I have the amount contacts as others on here as I was only looking but there werent very many.

Teaser, bear in mind my drive is far from level so Im not sure how it looks. In fact this is what it looked like a few months ago when I tried the Alpinas on.... Anyone see any great difference ? Driving home was very different however. Its MUCH stiffer than before and it really sticks to the road. Im looking forward to the springs settling and seeing how it goes in the next week.
-
Off to get the car.....apparantly they didnt have to do anything with the rear. Once they put the front springs in and put it on the ground the rear levelled itself out all on its own ! But it failed its wof due to its wiper blades and they dont have anything long enough to do the job

Mechanical. Remove the sway bar links, the car then 'bottoms out' and you reposition the linkages at least 10-15mm up from the 'bottom' depending on where you want the car to sit.
-
Hehehe, just wanted to show the inside of the alloy after all my hard work !Youre right, with the self levelling there is no need for springs. You basically fool the rear into thinking its correct ride height is lower than it is currently and it takes care of the rest.
-
The waiting is killing me !I know what I want the car to look like when Im finished, but this part all depends on the springs. Keith said they would be a conservative drop, maybe an inch or so, and that will determine how much the rear comes down. I dont want to slam it, but I do want to get rid of the arch gap that I have at the moment. Fingers crossed it wont be long before I get to see it and its the right height

Well its taken a while but today things have finally started to move. The formula is simple. You start with a stock standard e39 528i touring.... You take a tired and unloved set of 18' Alpinas that youve had sat in your garage for 12 months.... You then spend the weekend with a clay bar and a bottle of Megiaurs non-acidic wheel cleaner to get this.... and finally you wrap them in a set of brand new Falken FK452's that you happen to stumble across by pure coincidence (thanks Brian and Richard). You then get in touch with one of our very helpful and generous sponsors (thanks Keith and Ray) to get yourself some of these.... Then you have a chat with another one of our friendly and helpful sponsors (thanks Glenn) and you end up with the instructions on how to drop the rear air suspension Finally you leave all these goodies with your local mechanic and spend the day wondering how its all going to look

Ahhh yes, but I already know what Pauls 318is has in it so wouldnt need to find out for myself
-
Wouldnt take much to make it black though would it. Leather can be dyed very easily and Im sure you could do the cloth pretty easily too. All of a sudden it doesnt look too bad.
-
Alot depends on the seats and whether there is a sunroof.I had the fully padded leather sports seats and couldnt quiet sit straight, but can get into Pauls 318is with cloth seats and no sunroof with no problems at all.

Within 100m of the test drive my friend, never mind ownership.

convert BMW Nav monitor from Jap to Eng

Well dont quote me on it (I dont know much about the e46's), but I wouldve thought that Jochen's instructions would be just the ticket because you should have the world mode stereo. -
You will more than likely have the LAD setup (in fact I can see the button on the center console I think) meaning its self levelling in the rear but you can switch between (S)port and (K)omfort for the shocks If it works its great, if not its big dollars to repair to stock, but I know lots of people who have replaced the whole lot with Bilsteins and Eibachs. Big money either way.

Try using the search function mate, Jochen has done a write up about this previously and I assume it will help you out. Here it is right here -
Ive heard myself say that on many occasion Looks like a great car and brings back some happy memories. Get the suspension sorted (if it needs it) and get some nice 17's on it and you will be amazed just how well these things can handle. It will never be quick in the twisties but on the straights it will blow you away. [edit] speaking of 17's there was a set of Alpinas on TM last week that went for a paltry 700 or something. They wouldve been perfect.

Ive used both the meguiars and mothers bars and would say the meguiars one wins hands down. In fact the mothers one only gets used on the alloys now ! There are a couple of decent videos on youtube done by the meguiars team showing you how it done and doing the full three step will give you an excellent finish. Alot of my friends in the UK have moved onto Zymol products saying they are far superior to meguiars and there was something else too but I cant remember the brand. I dont think you can get either in NZ though. Its been hard enough finding the meguiars stuff !

Nothing in Wellington Simon -
Without knowing the price on the motorsport Id take that. Sports seats, widescreen, phone, bodykit, sports suspension, glass sunroof, shadowline, 2003 model which was the very last. Do I need to go on ?

I had Jamex's in my e30 for about 3 days before I ripped them out again. Far too low (although they werent super lows) and far too soft.
