    Wheels problem

What did the Alpinas have on them ? They were 18's and made for your car, surely you just want to replicate that size and fitment.

    B.O.B.

  3. Garage sale mate, two birds one stone !

    B.O.B.

    I saw a newly convertible e32 in there aswell...talk about pimp ! [edit - spelling !]
  5. Well there you go....always a solution if you prepared to look for one
  6. 7 just fits in the garage sounds like a to me
  7. Thats odd...its here anyway E39 Ultimate Guide You might have to go down the posts a little, some of the first links are dead I think.
  8. search on here, its been added before several times.
  9. Cant guarantee authenticity but Ebay !
  10. Been there done that, how many times do I have to say it people ! Read the statues and not the PP/LTSA websites. If you feel that strongly about it send me the money then at least Ill get some fun out of it rather than the lawyer you give it to
  11. Bravo, Ive seen the statutes and my lawyer wife has read them from top to bottom. It clearly states that only plates made by authorised agents are legal. German plates are illegal....END OF STORY. If you want to take it to court you can have my wifes number, we could do with the money As for how you got found out....three years ago it was mentioned that the LTSA were trialling plate reading cameras. They are obviously being used now ! If youve been sent the letter it will have been noted and if you get another one you will have no defense should you be fined.
  12. If you ask me....4k maybe....6k no chance Even with the cosmetic stuff its still only a 320 after all. Its a good looking car with some very desirable bits on it but 325's with the same mods dont make 6. Are you prepared to tell us what youve been offered so people can just say 'take it' or 'leave it'
  13. Are you having a laugh ? e39 better than an e38 for room, comfort and quietness ?!?!
  14. I went in recently and asked for a 325 filter, got it home to find it was vastly different. Of course I had forgotten the SA aspect of mine and had to get it swapped. Did you give them the chassis number or just ask for an air filter for a specific model ?

    Petrol Tank

Ive had the OBC on the e38 saying --- and driven for another 20km on top of that and not had any problems. I was aware that you could recalibrate it but could never get the enthusiasm to work out my fuel comsumption !What I was trying to do was work it out for the e30. I thought an SA tank was 65 litres and even though Ive had (or what I thought was) bone dry its not taken more than 62. The issue though was the petrol pouring out of the tank when it got anywhere near full. As Bravo says Im not the only one so Ill learn to live with it
  16. Thats got the lot, not only are the seats heated but they appear to be a hybrid of the comfort and sports seats. Ive not seen those before. Adjustable about 18 different ways, you should have no back problems with those ! Thats what Id be spending my money on
  17. Its sounds to me like youve already got everything you want Rog, its just that its hit 10 years old and thats triggered something in you So perhaps all you need to do is find a newer one. You could get a much younger car if you were prepared to import one from Japan yourself otherwise your looking at 01/02 for an e39 around 30k What about spending your budget on goodies for your current car ? Heated seats can be retro fitted easily enough (plenty of instructions on the web for someone to follow and you can buy direct from the US rather than NZ dealers prices), as can tv/sat nav. Angel eyes are relatively cheap and look great, lights upgrades are all easy. That is after all pretty much all you will get by trading a 96 for an 01, just a couple of cosmetic changes. At least you know the history of your current car and can be rest assured that its been looked after. I assume its leather too....otherwise you can do that aswell, swap the interior.
  18. Rog, I honestly dont think you will get ANYTHING that will be any better than an e39 for what you want, it is quite simply the best there is in that range. Im reading a book by Jez Clarkson at the moment that was written in 96. Now weve all seen him on tv berating BMW but in the book he does nothing but wet himself over it...time and time again. Why not just go to a much newer model ? You could look for more toys, Im thinking of heated seats in particular. You may laugh but once youve had them you will never want to be without them and they will do wonders for your back. Facelifted motorsport 528s and 530's fit into your budget
  19. Google + "bmw +e39 +headlight +removal" = How to install e39 Angel Eyes ! Go a little down the first page and there's even a link to get the old ones out ! This new fangled internet thing is really quite useful

    Petrol Tank

Thats what I was trying to work out. Id done 520 kms, the needle hadnt moved for days, the OBC said 40km to go and I there was no light on the dash but I didnt want to go any further. The most Ive been able to put in was 62 litres, but I probably lost two of those with it spilling out !
