**URGENT** Jap E65 745i TV, NAV, TUNER to NZ conversion **URGENT**
hotwire replied to ash7032's topic in Electrical system
Being 02, it could have one of a couple of systems. Either way not straight forward, or necessarily doable. I have been looking at converting nav in an early version E65 - a carry over ibus into MOST system. There are issues with programming to the car - as yet not even sure if it can be done & I'm not sure anyone else has cracked this one either. TV - may have a world tuner & just need setting to here - not sure - have never played with one in an E65. -
E39 1996 Rear Suspension/Brakes
hotwire replied to Kiwi4sure's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Ditto to above answers. But, are you sure it is from the back & not the front? Front sway bar links will cause this when the joints are worn -
Aint that bad Matt. I actually quite like the dark version. Then again the lighter coloured one does somewhat BTW - your car reaaaallly does need a screen in the dash aye
-
Now don't get caught Matt Just caught up with this thread again - the flashlight you got - BMW have been fitting those for years My old E12 has a factory fit one too On another note - any update on the nav front?

Jim, you thinking diameter or width? Can't say I'm aware of different diameter Edit. Mean different overall diameter. Usually a different rim diameters will have different profile tyres to maintain overall circumference

E36 Coolant Level going down after Air Conditioning on
hotwire replied to StephenMark's topic in Maintenance
As I said - Air con has nothing to do with coolant. The heater does though - hense mine & Glenn's suggestions -
20 sales - ratshit support! Can't believe there would have been so few. Seems, as with a lot of things on here - all noise of support but low take up when committment is due

E36 Coolant Level going down after Air Conditioning on
hotwire replied to StephenMark's topic in Maintenance
Hi, firstly - welcome. No the air con has nothing to do with coolant. I wonder though, from your description - maybe there was an airlock in the heater core that cleared once you operated the demister. This explaining the drop in coolant level then & not since. -
Nice, maybe Mr Fox needs another E28?
-
Sooo, you have absolutely NO lights glowing (LHS) when headlights are turned on? And only park when on park position? If so - check for power at light wiring - if so - it will have lost it's earth
-
Jack, Are you saying neither beam work or just high? If only high - sounds like no power to bulb - Check fuses for a start
-
Yep Darryl, as you know - I have an E12, an M20 rather than M10 but pretty immaculate & probably of interest. Have it's complete history from factory
-
Quite maybe the 911 shape is timeless
-
Better looking than a 911 Wash your mouth out Jack! Which is going be better remembered in another 10 yrs? somehow not the E46 I suspect:- Not saying I don't like the E46 though - especially M3

Get it checked by Glenn at Botany - forum sponsor on here If you just want a cruiser - this will be fine. No rocket ship but quite ok

Makes no sense to me if the battery is at 10.5 at rest - if it is - IT IS flat 9 - 10.5v while cranking is normal Where are you checking the voltage? You may have a lazy starter or a suspect battery/ lead connection in the circuit. Check them all Regards radio - check radio wiring/earth
-
Lance hasn't been around on here for quite a while. Depending on your vehicle - I can help. PM me for options
-
With calipers - measure the OD of the hub flange & the ID of the wheel
-
How to stroke a M20? Always a laugh how threads change as they progress

Hi im a New BMW E46 owner and am very impressed
hotwire replied to nemo328i's topic in New Member Introductions
Hello Michael & welcome. Nice looking E46 there - glad you're happy with it. Can't say I've seen many in white -
Hi James, In reference to the TV/Nav manual - this is a supplimentary book to the owners manual - I have the original Jap version - no use for me of course I have replied to your PM - can guide you through operating these functions - even easier once converted from Jap

Calcium batteries are more suited to modern alternators that do run a higher voltage - late 14v's That said - they will be ok with the E30 version alt - some battery configuations suiting older vehicles only come in Calcium now. Sounds like your meter is crook - 10v & still starting the car Do you actually have a problem with the car?
-
Hi Nick PM me Cheers Grant

You are confusing yourself with irrelevent tests here At 10.5v the battery is completly flat - wont be starting the car at that voltage 11.8 is technically a flat battery, 12.6 -12.8 (depending on battery composition) is fully charged (at rest) The charging voltage is directly proportional to the state of charge of the battery - flat battery - the alt (yours) will not be charging at 14.4, mid 13's sounds about right. Voltage will increase slightly with revs As the battery state of charge comes up so does the voltage (both at rest & charging)- the current input from the alt in turn decreases. It will be then that you will see the charging voltage up over 14v (test with holding revs - not idle. From memory the Bosch alt for E30 has a 14.3v reg - this is the maximum voltage it allows (the alt uncontrolled can get up to 19v) As for brushes - 6mm is still servicable & will not be causing a problem. If worn out - the brush & slip ring will show signs of arcing & the charge light will flicker. From the sounds of it - get the car checked by an auto sparky As to where to get a reg from (if required) - as above ^^^
