  1. it would work by just tapping into the wires, preferably with relays and you just need to disable the bulb warnings with navcoder, this would be the cheapest option and wouldnt cause it to default to towing mode in the auto i don't think the missing bulb warnings are that much of a loss As mentioned above & earlier in the thread - you can do with relays & run a separate power source for the relays. Doing this will not activate fault codes so those circuits won't need disabling. DONT connect straight to lamp circuits - the LKM is not designed for this extra load There are various aftermarket modules available in NZ for this situation - auto sparkys have access to these, & cheaper (but simpler) than the BMW option
  2. HB ya old bugger. Have a good one . See you at Ice breaker
  3. No such thing - it is output. It is either 55, 60 or 100w output They are single filament so not 60/55 which indicates dual The 100w bulb is nearly double the current draw - the lighting system is not designed for that extra load.
  4. Ahhhh - so that's Dan's new "go fast" scheme for this season - or is it he just does'nt want to be seen in it
  5. "of course the band expander was removed" I have seen many case where it hasn't been when a radio replaced. Yes the aerial amplifier requires power. Therein may lay your problem. Was this connected when the radio replaced?
  6. I would not be putting 100w bulbs into your car. It is not set up for the extra current draw load that 100watt place on the system
  7. How many pins in that plug? Is it the TPS plug? Engine requires: Compression Timing - valve & ign Air Fuel Spark If it has all those - it should be going. Dizzy timing is specific - no point in trying random settings Get the engine on TDC (or just before) on compression & set dizzy for firing on no1
  8. Intersting Josh. I've not had anything to do with them - just seen the site
  9. He sent me pics of the speakers he took out - they look feable. Discussion on here about crap E53 sounds: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product/...Upgrade-E53-X5/
  10. Contradicts what I have seen: Ex Jap -if a screen, have both TV & nav. NZ new -like you say - just TV Most ex Singapore E65's come with nav but no TV. Again, Jap have both. Probably about an 8k option. A Mk4 nav unit is around 6k ex BMW NZ Reversing camera - can't do without video module - this is where the camera inputs integrate. The reason I asked was - if it did - it must have TV:- Not doubting but - are you sure yours doesn't have TV? Just had an 05 NZ E53 in at work yesterday - has TV, no nav. They are prewired for though
  11. Yep TV great for those occasions, and have watched cricket a couple of times when it's been on TV3 & I have been going somewhere at the same time I haven't seriously listened to sounds in E53's but have now had a few people comment to me about music sounding flat A guy I supplied a reversing camera to, upgraded the speakers in his doors (to two way Fusion units I am told) & also added another realitively small amp & sub into the rear compartment where the factory option sub normally mounts. He said the improvement was very impressive.
  12. Factory head unit or aftermarket? Silly question but... has the band expander been removed?
  13. Hella do an ultra (from memory) in HB3 & 4 I have these in the E39
  14. That surprises me. Of the several NZ new E53's I have seen/dealt with have had widescreen monitor & TV but no nav. Since yours has nav I would have thought it would have had both - are you sure it hasn't? Does it have a reversing camera? I have retrofitted nav to a couple. No, this unit is no good for you. It is a 4:3 unit to operate a 4:3 screen. Would work but display would be in 4:3 format. You require a 16:9 VM, not sure what wiring would pre exist, being that I haven't seen one without.
  15. The video unit mentioned is the "video module" or TV module. The unit that operates TV &, when no nav is fitted, controls the screen graphics. Clinton, if for your X5 - that has TV & nav already doesn't it? Also it will have a 16:9 screen
  16. Is it a jap import car with a band expander? If so - reception will be sh*t! These cars normally have very good reception
  17. Sounds like a real merry go round. Hope it get to the right person in the end

    My new foglights

Not actually sure they are STILL available either - seriously!
  19. Shuey, The blue wire is the indicator load wire, connect it together with the indicator wire - this simulates bulb current
  20. Yep, looks familiar - how I have always done them too. Only difference - always been inside with a shitload od smoke
  21. Totally agree Glenn. I should also practice what I preach. That said though - in my case the belt did look & feel as new. Close inspection & absolutely no sign of degradation. Certainly wouldn't tempt ANY fate with the race car though Edit: My "probably not" remark was aimed at all the cars I have seen through work over the years that have done mega km's 10yrs + & never seen a belt replacement. a percentage of these ending in tears. Owners oblivious to the situation
  22. X5 GPS aerial is in the rear too.
  23. Probabaly not. I did the belt & tensioner on our E12 when we got the car - about 16 yrs ago. I checked it a couple of years back & it looked as new too. That said - the car has only done about 35K in the time we have had it. If it had shown any sign of fatigue - I certainly would have replaced it.
  24. Hi Adrian, Welcome & as above - love the colour - suits the E36
