True, but then u don't have something different. Is it a full nightmare doing a swap for something "sensible" like a newer BMW 2.5/2.8?
-
Maybe I am just a purist, but I am against all cross make engine transplants.
-
ssshhhhhh, shut up. $10k, well thats an e36 engine, LSD (not specifically a bmw one, but something), new BBS's, and enough left over to buy new tyres at the next WOF.
-
No. Previous owner had that. But the easy identification of a p.p. is not what a hoon like myself wants. S S

Yeah but they are a dime a dozen. e36 m3s have their critics though, and although i would buy one, i have to agree with the critisims.

Ijust got mine done before xmas. Wasnt too bad. $300 including a few other little things.
-
I say what do you drive cause i know ppl have multiple Bmws
-
Wasn't suggesting they are worth $15k. But if you gave me $15k thats what i would buy.
-
All I can say is that for sub $15k i wouldnt want any other car. They arent the fastest cars, and there is always maintainance issues (as with any 20 year old car). But they are the most rewarding drive. You can go far "slower" than say a jap turbo, but the driving buzz is more. Pretty much comes down to reasonable suspension, light weight, rear wheel drive and an LSD.

having had 6 of them, i did know

For M20 m325i. Mine is cracked. Cheap headers/extractors I would be keen, otherwise a replacement stock item. Cheers.

Lovells perhaps? Sweet ride. Not huge on the pinstriping tho. It doesn't look that low either? How hard does it go with chip/cam? Standard clutch?
-
Im just pipe dreaming. But I may consider it if it is a simple procedure. Any links you guys got? Cher

My questions are numorous and hazy: What is the easiest engine conversion upgrade to an e30, (specifically mine: m325i)? How much would it cost to slap an e36 2.5/2.8 in it? (or Mr M?) Can you (easily), or do you have to upgrade the gearbox? I have seen it done to many e30s, wondering if there are some the "bolt up?"

I agree. e46 m3 con. = one of the coolest cars around. e30 con. = I like, if its the right one. Baur = pretty rude. I have never owned a con. Apart from the leaking what disadvantages are there? I know my sunroof is a dream. A convertible must be better?

I have had a couple of unidens. They are OK, they work, but false alarms, and they arent 100%, which is spose kinda defeats the purpose of having one. Like above, V1 was the best, now Bel is just as good, with the exception of the directional indicator. Dont pay extra for a talking one.
-
ok. They are cheap as from any Auto Access shop.

Some of you guys are getting swindled. I used to pay $1500 pa for a turbo mazda, and i had had claims, (NZ auto club) I was paying $450pa, then i claimed, now its $800 pa. Thats for full cover. AMI i think, (through a broker). I had no trouble at all insuring the BMW. Try insuring a sub, or an evo. That's a real fun exercise, fool.
