I'm selling my HellRot 1995 318iS coupe. Full kit with the full-twist M3 skirts, M-Sport bumper (version without slats), M-Sport rear bumper and M3 spoiler. Completely standard M44 1900cc Twin-Cam all the m-sport goodies, suspension, brakes, wheels, half leather seats, steering wheel. Black and Navy interior. factory 6-disc stacker. Had belts etc all replaced less than 1000km ago. May sell at higher price with 18" Advanti Odin's & new tyres. Otherwise, on 16" wheels with reasonable rubber, Rather Bald 215 Yokohama F1's . full spare with an untouched 225 Pirelli. 110,500k. Would like to sell on to an enthusiast and not someone who'll whack 19" Chromes and altezza lights on it. Looking at prices of similar cars on TradeMe etc, Would be looking at about $9000 to part with her. Would take 10k on 18's Or may take a trade+ cash Update: PHOTO'S HERE : http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=8816 Cheers.

We're just waiting around and hoping a for sale sign comes up in the window. Well, I am..
-
Keep it forever. Don't risk passing it on to someone who doesn't appreciate it as much as you do.
-
Man.. that's nice. I think I drooled just a little bit.

SR20DET E30? Someone needs to get something in before a rotary powered one shows up.
-
And then start building another one as the first D1NZ BMW?
-
Charge battery, sandpaper/file the battery terminals and clamps, and make sure they're done up tightly.

Isn't really much of an issue between coupe and 4 door, whichever has the cheapest body parts. Personally I'd go for an E30 as parts are cheaper and more available. Generally its not torque that you need to put the car back in a straight line after a slide, its a smooth reduction in power to regain traction before accelerating into the next corner. Basically, a solid 325 E30 Manual would be a good starting point. After that, brakes (yes, there's more to it than jamming a screw into your handbrake on race day) a lot of suspension work, an aftermarket LSD and clutch, cage, seats, basic engine mods, intake and exhaust, bigger radiator & a remote oil cooler... bit of head work for longevity if you were keen (in the valve's, valve spring and stopper department) and you'd be set. I think it would be more a case of about a 5kish car plus about 10-15k of mods. And if you did it right you'd make it useable for other events than drift also. Only other way I think I'd go in the BMW direction was if a slightly higher budget was involved in which case a turbo M20 E34 525 would be the way. Then you'd be more competing in the Cefiro/Laurel style of big power and long wheelbase rather than the AE86 style of holding speed through the corners and relying more on weight transfer and driver control to slide the car rather than high power as I'd imagine would also be the case with an E30 325.

I think that a stripped out 325 with around 150-160hp could be just as effective a drift car as a 300hp 5 or 7 series. It's all about car control, power isn't a big factor. Remember its about sliding the car in a fluid, controlled manner around corners at high speed, not spinning the wheels and making smoke. And I know if I was throwing a car around multiple corner's at speed, I'd much rather have a nimble lightweight car.

Damnit that's cool. And if anyone happens to want an e36 one...
-
Probably not for cheaper than what getting one of those Ireland Engineering 3.1 kits would cost. plus that kit looks like it would turn your E30 into a beast.

A dirty black 2.7 Stroker e30 325 sedan on gunmetal weaves would be my pick for a D1 BMW

That 3.1L stroker kit sounds awesome! https://secure19.nexternal.com/shared/Store...ID=624&All=

I think people are just keeping away from them due to the purchase price and price of parts. (an e30 would get around this) compared to the likes of Cefiro's and Laurels. E30 325 or an E34 535 would rock... As would a turbo E30. As long as you've got a reliable drivetrain and suspension system there's not much more that matters in a drift car. Haha, although I just got a mental image of how sick that blue 840 would look amongst a track full of Silvia's and Cefiro's.

Which iS was this?

How much for the Centre Console?

I'm After The Alternator From One. So If It's Complete I'll Take It Off Your Hands (Whole Engine) Where In NZ Are You?

I have an E36 318iS and have driven an E36 318i Sedan, 320i Coupes, 323i Vanos Convertible and 328i Vanos Coupe. The 328 will actually push you into your seat off the line. I can only compare it to the feeling of driving a 2L turbo when you hit boost. The 323 doesn't really get moving until you're above 3500-4000rpm. The 320 had crappy response and didn't feel like it had any guts at all, probably a little quicker off the line than a 318iS, But not by much. And the 318iS will catch it by the time you've got to 30k. The Vanos one didn't do a whole lot better. The 318i Sedan was more responsive than the 320 Coupe and FELT faster, although it wasn't. The 318iS feels like driving something sporty. Which I didn't feel in anything other than the 328i, it has good throttle response, feels lighter and more nimble, doesn't really move until you're above 40k/4500rpm but once its there it goes alright. My choice between an E36 320i and a 318i would be the 320. But I'd pick a 318iS with a handful of m-sport options and decent brakes and suspension anyday. The M-Sport suspension option is pretty decent, sits nice and flat through the corners and has about a 30mm drop over standard. I'd pick the 1.8l M42 over the later 1.9L M44 also. There's a few around on trademe for around the 10k mark with around 100,000km. Even a couple of manual ones about. Thats just my opinion. If I could have a 328 coupe that looked and handled like my 318iS, I'd get it in an instant. felt so nice to drive. The one I drove had brembo's and 18" bbs wheels and an m3 bumper etc. Guess I needa drive an M3..

Would really prefer something driveable (atleast a couple of kilometres) but feel free to PM me roughly what you'd like for it.
-
Paid for mine all by myself, 52 hour weeks... And I'm under 20.

They're an M60B40 right?
