  1. I've never been a big fan of M30 swaps. M20s go just as hard and my race car motor isn't even that modified and is still 2.5 ltr.
  2. Keen if beer is there. 335 ftw.
  3. USD - so 113k NZD - so more like 180 - 190k in our market I imagine.
  4. hah yeah - its not really original enough to have value in that regard. But is still the toughest one there.
  5. I have the Link LEMV5 on my racecar - Pros - Good user interface, can do everything you need for simpler engines. CHEAP. Cons - Perhaps not as feature rich as more expensive ECUs. BMW Specific: Needs custom ignition triggering - but Bob @ Hitek motorsport has done it to my car and can replicate it for any m20 (motronic and l-jet) I have the Motec M4 in my turbo. Pros - Trillions of features. Cons - Annoyingly hard to program. Too expensive.
  6. While there have been minimal cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior to the 2008 BMW M5, pricing has remained the same as last year at $83,675 including a $775 destination charge. However, these minimal changes mean the world to BMW enthusiasts that are looking for bragging rights. We’ve gone ahead and bolded some changes that, we think, matter. Oh and its still powered by the amazing 5.0-liter V10 engine producing 500hp with 383 lb-ft. torque that gives it the ability to do 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Exterior: Like the 2008 BMW 5-Series the 2008 BMW M5 gets subtle yet eye-catching enhancements that include a new front air dam with a more pronounced center air intake and reshaped brake air inlets. There are also new optical lenses for the headlights and the lower rear lights feature red lines in their optical lenses while the top rear lights have a white design with fewer reflectors. Two new exterior colors, Space Gray Metallic and Monaco Blue Metallic are now available. Interior: BMW designers have given the M5 interior more luxury starting with new door panels that include larger door pockets and wood trim along the tops of the doors. The front passenger door handle is wrapped in leather and the location of the door handles has been moved to improve ergonomics. The window buttons are made of a softer material and were moved to the door armrests. Pearl-gloss chrome inserts are now on the radio and temperature controls. The iDrive system now has six programmable memory keys. Technological: A heated M multi-function steering wheel and soft-close doors are available as stand-alone options as is an iPod/USB Adapter which enables the M5’s audio system to play an MP3 player. It will fully integrate the iPod’s functionality into the audio controls on the multi-function steering wheel as well as charge the iPod. High Definition (HD) radio with multicasting is also an option. HD radio improves the sound quality and allows access to additional radio programming.
  7. BMW, maker of BMW brand cars, MINIs and Rolls Royce vehicles, said today that sales increased 3 percent in April with a total of 118,456 cars sold. The 3 percent increase included a 0.5 percent increase of BMW brand sales with 100,141 vehicles sold, and a 19.2 increase in the MINI brand with 18,263 vehicles sold. The world’s largest premium auto maker hopes to increase sales throughout the year with the launch of the new 3-Series convertible and the revised 2008 1-Series and 5-Series. BMW is aiming to sell 1.4 million BMWs, Minis and Rolls Royces in 2007. Source: Reuters

For this, please contact us on [email protected] or call 0800 BLACKHAWK (0800 252 254). Cost for install varies depending on where you would like to install it and who is installing the unit. A simple install may cost between $50 and $150; a more complicated install costs upwards of $100. Alternatively, an installation manual comes with the unit, Please be aware that self installation voids the warranty and guarantees. GPS tracking GPS stands for Global Positioning System. This technology is a constellation of 24 satellites that orbit the earth and make it possible for people with ground receivers to pinpoint their geographic location. To get a fix the receiver must see at least 3 satellites. This technology can also work out the speed and direction of the receiver. Accuracy can vary depending on the receiver used. The BlackHawk Tracking Systems use a highly sensitive medium accuracy GPS receiver, giving approximately 25m accuracy but get a location fix almost anywhere inside the car. The BlackHawk system also uses GPRS to help track the vehicle and report back to either your mobile phone or the website www.theblackhawk.co.nz Geo Fencing A geo fence is an invisible perimeter or fence that is set around your vehicle. You can set this feature with a text message to the system from your mobile phone and if your vehicle moves outside the set perimeter, you will be sent a text message to inform you of this. To unset this feature, you text the system again to remove the fence. There is no cost to your BlackHawk account to set or unset the fence. Your account will be charged the cost of a text if the geo fence alerts you. Remote vehicle immobilisation This is an optional feature in the BlackHawk system. From your mobile phone, you can text your vehicle to immobilise it (by various methods) for example, stopping the engine running or stopping the fuel from reaching the engine) at the next time the vehicle slows to less than 5 km/hr. The system has dual immobilisers, so there are two different ways for immobilisation, this will be decided by the installers. For this feature, you must have a certified auto electrician install the unit that will guarantee his work. For a list of suggested installers in your area, please email [email protected] with your region. Crash sensor/Impact notification If your vehicle is involved in an accident with a force great enough to give you whiplash (stopping a vehicle travelling at 48km/h in 0.3metres), a text message will be sent out to your nominated friends and family saying that you have been in an accident and give your location. The unit will not alert to low impact accidents such as collision with shopping trolleys. Panic button With the press of a button that is installed for easy access, a text message will be sent out to your nominated friends and family saying that you are in trouble and give your location. Excessive speed/Speed monitoring The BlackHawk system can monitor the speed at which your vehicle is travelling. You can log into the website and go to the settings page to activate this feature. Here you can set and change the speed you would like it activated at. Once activated, you will receive a text message saying your vehicle is travelling at more than the set speed. Remote door lock/unlock This is an optional feature in the BlackHawk system. Your vehicle must already have central locking for this feature to be applicable. From your mobile phone, you can text the BlackHawk system to lock your doors, handy if you lock your keys in the car or if you are in a meeting and cannot remember if you locked your car or not. Tracking from the web or mobile You can track your vehicle from the website www.theblackhawk.co.nz or from your mobile phone. For a demonstration of the website, please go to www.theblackhawk.co.nz/demo.asp and zoom in. You can view the map in one of three modes; normal map views, satellite views (so you can actually see structures & buildings etc) or a hybrid view which incorporates both the satellite picture with the map overlaid. From your phone, you will receive a text message back with the closest street address to where your vehicle is. Why thieves won’t know its there There are three main reasons why thieves won’t know the unit is in the vehicle. Firstly, the BlackHawk has completely internal aerials, so there is no tell tale GPS aerial on the outside of the vehicle. Secondly, the size of unit is such that you can hide it almost anywhere. The car unit measures 113mm long and 64mm wide while the Motorcycle unit is 74mm square. Finally, the sensitivity of the GPS receiver is extremely high, you can install the unit almost anywhere in the vehicle and it will still receive signal. If thieves break into the vehicle, they will automatically look in one or two places for alarms etc, now you can install this system in a completely different place to where systems are usually installed. Why get a BlackHawk? There are two main focuses of the BlackHawk Vehicle Tracking System with many benefits in each. Vehicle protection is mainly looking at vehicle theft and recovery, while personal protection is looking after you and your family while in the vehicle. When someone steals your vehicle, there are various impacts and thoughts that occur. Someone that does not own your vehicle, or have any right to it has taken it and will (in over 90% of cases) get away with it. You are left without a vehicle and now must rely on friends and family to get you from place to place. You have lost your vehicle, potentially something you have been working on for a long time and the value to you is probably more than what the insurance company will pay out. Your insurance premiums will now go up as you have lost your no claims bonus. Personal protection in vehicles reaches new heights with the BlackHawk system. If your vehicle is in an accident, your friends and family are immediately notified with your location You can monitor the speed of your vehicle, if it goes over the speed you have set, you can be notified. This is perfect if you lend your vehicle to someone and want to ensure they are complying with your rules. If you get in trouble, your vehicle can send a text with your location to loved ones at the push of a button. Insurance premium benefits There are insurance benefits if you install a BlackHawk system in your vehicle. Depending on your insurance company, you may get zero theft excess and/or reduced premiums. BlackHawk Tracking Systems is working all the time to expand the list of insurers that support the BlackHawk system. 17. When it comes to compact German SUVs, the BMW X3 steals all the light; simply because there is no other substitute or competitor for the car. Well that’s all about the change and BMW has three new things to worry about. The Volkswagen Tiguan, the Mercedes-Benz GLK and the Audi Q5 are on their way and all will definitely give the X3 a run for the buck. So what’s the update on these 3 compact SUVs? Volkswagen Tiguan: While it may not be from the upper-class auto makers, the Volkswagen Tiguan will offer a 2.0 liter “Clean TDI” BLUETEC diesel engine in the US when it debuts in 2008, forcing BMW to offer a greener X3. While we haven’t seen the total production version of the Tiguan, the concept is expected to closely resemble what the production version will look like. Mercedes-Benz GLK: Expected to debut in August of 2008, the Mercedes-Benz GLK will be based on the platform of the 2008 C-Class (much like the X3 is based on the 3-Series) and will be powered by a 2.0 liter standard all-wheel drive and will eventually have a 2.2-liter turbodiesel that produces 204 horsepower the following year. A V6 engine is also in the works. The car is expected to be priced around 36,000 euros, with an expected output of 83,000 units per year. Update: Mercedes to unveil compact SUV in Geneva next year. Audi Q5: While the Audi Q5 is yet to be officially confirmed by the folks at Audi, it is apparent that the company is working on a compact SUV after the debut of the Audi Cross Coupe concept at the Shanghai Auto Show. The Audi Cross Coupe quattro is powered by a four-cylinder inline TDI engine with common-rail fuel injection that produces of 204 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Using the Bluetec system, the 2.0 TDI needs just 5.9 litres of diesel per 100 km.

  20. Nah - welded diff once again proved the win for uber grip.
  21. Its not that it bothers me really - I just put in an autobid to the amount I wanted to pay. The guys reserve was 800 bucks.
  22. That's what I hate about TM - you autobid and it automagically bumps it to reserve. I'll take you up on that set if this falls through.
  23. Germany's Sebastian Vettel will be consigned to the role of reserve for next weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix after BMW Sauber confirmed they will not be using a third driver in Friday practice sessions for the foreseeable future. Vettel appeared in one session at the opening two rounds of the season, in line with BMW Sauber’s aim of developing their young driver talent. However, with testing away from races more limited this year, race drivers Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica were reluctant to give up valuable track time. This, combined with BMW Sauber’s unexpectedly strong start to the year, looks to have prompted the team to reconsider the issue. "As announced, following the overseas races we have been looking closely at the driver line-up for the Friday of the GP weekends,” said BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen. “Until further notice, the two race drivers will be on track for the whole of Friday.” BMW Sauber lie a convincing third in the standings heading to Barcelona, after impressive showings in the flyway races to date, including three fourth places for Heidfeld. The team are now keen to maintain that momentum as the Formula One calendar moves to Europe. "Our performances in the first three rounds of the world championship have given us a very good start to the season and we have used the time since the Bahrain Grand Prix to fit in some intensive development work,” added Theissen. “Our rivals will certainly have been doing much the same, though, and the burning question is whether the balance of power has shifted as a result. Our aim is very clear - to maintain our position as the third-best team on the grid.” At last year’s Spanish Grand Prix, BMW Sauber scored one point, thanks to Heidfeld’s eighth place. His then team mate Jacques Villeneuve finished 12th.
