  1. still having troubles guys. any ideas?

i think it could be a coil pack issue as i had them out when i did vanos but i havnt noticed any power loss which im pretty sure a missing cylinder would feel a bit sluggish but im going to play around with the coils this weekend as i have a few spare im really stumped by this fault all i know is it was fine b4 i did vanos seals now its doing this, i recently did oil which seemed to kept it away not sure if this means anything or not ???/

    please help me

  2. Vanos seals won't cause you to leak oil - the oil that makes it past the seals will end up back in the sump. the gasket or aluminium sealing washers could have been leaking, but they don't really affect the operation of the Vanos (unless the leak is huge, but then you'd have more issues than Vanos!). Usually worn Vanos seals eventually lead to a hunting idle, as the oil pressure stuggles to maintain a constant advance point for the cams.

How long ago did you change the seals? Our M54 idled fine before and after, though it was easily stalled, and the idle would hunt a lot while riding the clutch, reversing and the likes, before I did them.

You might be paying more attention, looking for faults, because you've made changes, or the car maybe adjusting to things still.

i did the seals on Sunday the oil did leak from the vanos but between the bridge and the unit not really sure what could be causing it maybe it is adjusting, hopefully haha thanks for the reply

  3. hey guy recently changed my vanos seals in my s50 as they were leaking oil.

Now im experiencing a strange idle problem since ive changed seals i also did a oil/filter change now the car idles still @ 650-700 rpm but sort of pulses almost? does this mean the cam could be stuck in a advanced stage or a retardant stage or im i just worrying haha?

The seals that i removed were very badly damaged and i was losing a fair bit of oil now everything seems fine no leaking no loss of power nothing else out of the ordinary other than this idling fault any ideas fellas?

  4. just replaced all the seals in my single vanos s50 successfully it wasn't too hard but it was time consuming havnt noticed much difference i had a small issue before with when the car was cold there is an small jolt when you start to accelerate but that has seem to of gone now. also pretty much every old seal was well destroyed

  5. hey guys just got another coupe and found the air duct that covers the fan unit had fully rusted out luckily it hasn't damaged the fire wall anyway i need another one for a wof so if anyone is wreaking a coupe ive tried 4 doors and hatch the dont fit so need a coupe please let me know really only want to spend $20

  6. hey i have a black leather sport seat set for an e36 coupe for sale

the seats are in average condition the drivers seat is pretty crap it has rips and tear on the side bolsters the passenger seat is in pretty good condition it has slight cracking but very minor the rear seats are pretty much the same but there in a small rip in the back corner which is hard to notice

the full set is for sale but it could be good to remove the passenger cushions and put on a worn drivers seat of your own or to replace some destroyed fabric seats ill try get pics up tomorrow

$150 for the set will split if i have interest in the rears and the passengers seat i don't really care about drivers seat

  7. turned out to be a faulty fuel pump i pulled the pump out and put it back in and it worked. the day after it wouldn't start it had intermittent start faults b4 but never didnt start i moved the relays around and it started again so i thought it must of been relay faults i also discovered that the power at fuse 18 only supply's during crank cycles i know that should have been more obvious but hey ive learnt now but the next time car failed to start when i put power directly to pump it would not run so i replaced it and has been fine since. thanks for the info

  8. hey im currently having troubles with my m3 fuel pump it all seems fine apart from power to fuse 18 i jumped fuse 18 with another live fuse and the pump powers ive replaced the fuel pump relay and still nothing so my question is what is fuse 18 connected too and why doesnt it have power ?
