My e36 just hit 300 thousand kms and I'm pretty impressed considering it's had no engine work done ever, and it has had by no means an easy life. What sort of kms is standard before a rebuild on these things? mine's a m52 2.0. Anyone got more kms on an e36 (without a rebuild)?

Myself and many friends have also had similar driving charges. There is something that nobody has mentioned; the cops will lie. This is just the truth, be prepared to not only defend what happened, but also what the cop involved will say to get a water-tight case against you. I got a S.L.O.T by whacking second gear away from the lights and was genuinely guilty, but the summary of facts included things like "revved engine at lights, car sliding in and out of lane, nearly lost control" etc which was all made up. My (daddys) lawyer transferred the case to nelson after pleading not guilty, and because of lack of evidence and technical problems (there is always a couple, its a pretty complicated system) as well as the trouble it would have been for the cops/courts to process the charge, it got lost in the system and simply never eventuated and has since been thrown out. You will never reason yourself out of the situation through mitigating circumstances without a Fn good lawyer. Your best option is to get a lawyer to make the process as hard as possible to get the case to court, they frquently throw out cases once they have become too much effort to prosecute, especially for such a minor offense.

bugger all, probably about 130hp as standard non turbo. Easy to get more power though with some light mods. I personally reckon a rotary e30 would be awesome!

Theres no point turboing the engine unless its a 2.5l. A friend of mine has a pretty much full CA18det setup in his e30, and it was pretty easy and it goes great. Just randomly, e30s are a easy 12a rotary conversion if you're into that stuff (show)

true, but they step out alot easier under acceleration when its slippery, particularly with a reasonably powerful car

Failed a wof on 2002 M3 because of airbag light being on. My uncle had the same problem in his passat and hit some sequence of dials and it reset it turning it off. Can this be done on the M3? worth a try haha

The LSD point was not actually stupid at all, although i doubt many people on this forum have experienced rwd+turbo+LSD

I just read in The Press "Members of Students Against Driving Drunk released 119 balloons in Cathedral square in Christchurch on Saturday, marking the number of Canterbury crashes that involved drink drivers in 2008. Spokesman James Morrison said 145 people were killed in these crashes. The 2008 statistics are the latest available to the group." These numbers clearly don't even sound remotely accurate, and the real statistics in 2008 in Canterbury are a TOTAL of 46 deaths, with only 6 people being killed in crashes listing alcohol as a main contributing factor.

OK, so my gf got a 45$ fine for exceeding the 10 minute limit at hornby mall (chch). to me this seems way too steep, especially for such a crappy mall haha. Can private firms fine people more than what it costs to cover their own costs? I told her not to pay it and they then increased it to 60$ and threatened to use baycorp. This is completely stupid as if they can make up the rules what is to stop them from making the fine 500$+ etc then triple it if its not paid on time?

it annoys me heaps petrol stations that seem to randomly put the pumps on prepay so when you try to fill up like usual, nothing happens and you get briefly confused, usually followed by anger and contempt for that sod behind the counter whom certainly turned the pumps on prepay to make some sort of point. What I don't get is, they always have the pumps on prepay at night, but the majority of "petrol runs" happen during the busiest times when noone takes much notice

yeah i went and bought some acrylic topcoat today, have everything I need now to do a bit of trial and error with the spraygun, although it sounds like it might not cut the mustard haha
