its acrylic lacquer thats metallic (3 litres) and got it and 2l of primer and 4l of thinners for 20$ off my mate haha. 2.5 hp compressor with 60l tankre the clear coat, is there an easier/less risky way? I havn't bought the clearcoat yet I know nothing about painting, what I have got was not strategically purchased or anything, I just thought it might end up looking better that a spray can job and reckon its worth a try. Il put some pictures up for you all to laugh at after im done!

would you recommend sanding after each base coat layer is applied?

my paint job is rugged as on my s14 and want to paint it myself. I have an air compressor with spray gun and have bought some primer, acrylic lacquer base coat (because it was cheap) and primer and am in the process of finding a clearcoat within my price range on trademe. then plan on painting it in my garage. I'm not expecting a mint finish, but dont want to pay for a decent job. With these ratios to paint thinner and hardener i plan on; 1. Primer = 2:1:1 ratio (2 parts paint to 1 part hardener & 1 part thinner) 2. Base Coat = 1:1 ratio (1 part paint to 1 part thinner) 3. Clear coat = 2:1:10% ratio (2 parts paint to 1 part hardener and then add 10% of thinner). a) sanding it down bogging dents etc b)primer coating it x2 coats c)sanding it with w/d 1500grit sandpaper d)applying the base coat x3 coats e)applying the clear coat x2 Could anyone give me any advice on what is wrong with this or what else I should or should not be doing?

does it have any distinctive performane parts? Im in the process of buying a few sr20det/silvia parts wherever i can get them cheap haha so could keep an eye out

Oh no, of course I would not be so daft as to believe the government would waste millions of dollars, and I have noticed the spectacular results with the road toll. You have all turned this into a witch hunt, I never advocated drink driving, just said I was sick of hearing the "message" and think that in general the dangers are exaggerated. I still think this, and no fallacious arguments or moral outrage will change my mind. The comment "drink drivers should be shot" passed without disagreement, one idiot even agreed! This shows the level of thinking in this forum. Yet me saying I am sick of being told what to do has turned into "drink driving is good," with all the fools lining up to insult me. Marvellous.

yes you are right, I was meant to say "usual rhetoric" which ironically enough followed my comment
-
You can all save the rhetoric, and even the propaganda videos. I don't drink and drive. I just think the massive campaign villifying people who drive over the limit is unnecessary and distasteful. Because driving after a few beers is really not that big of a deal when you actually think about it
-
Is anyone else sick of hearing the drink driving "message?" The dangers are overstated. One has to be grossly intoxicated before becoming dangerous, not just over the piddly limit.

Whats this talk of government subsidy? aren't you talking about the student overdraft? (which i pissed against the wall in o week)
-
haha yeah aye man. would be a sick toy though!

oh come on, have you ever seen a ford capri or VW golf convertable?I told her all this and shes changed her mind, now she wants a newer style mx5 haha, im trying to talk her into getting this...http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Lotus/auction-269709245.htm
-
budget is around 7-11k, and the car must be manual.
-
Yeah, theres a real nice black e30 325i convertable on trademe, but she doesn't want it because the roof looks hard to take off haha. A newer mx5 or z3 sounds pretty good to me at the moment.
-
oh man, I had suspicions they would be a bit dodgy but this sounds terrible! Cheers for the heads up anyway haha
-
shes dead set on a MGF because they are "cute", I have conceded I prefer it to an mx5, but thats about as far as it goes. Any info at all would be appreciated. Any other suggestions for a convertable under or around 8k are welcome. Cheers!

hey antony man, i need the front end of the bmw done again and the gtr after compliance and im getting an HB cosmo on wednesday haha. Il do the cosmo myself, but cant be bothered with the gody or bema, would rather just pay

got a couple of cars I need lowering, don't care about quality just want it done cheap and legal enough for wof
-
E36s are a pain to lower at the front aye. Low chassis rails make it very easy to become illegal before the car even appears lowered, I have been having endless problems. I'm after a set of low front springs if you want to sell them
-
why do you want an SUV? X5s and Touregs look like upside down boats and are pathetic off road, at least a range rover has a bit of class and look pretty cool
-
hope it was a good party, shame I missed the invitation, must have been a mix up at the post office or something?
-
get an 80s 400 or 500se merc they look awesome low on wheels and are really reliable (in my experience.) Get a straight through exhaust and they sound nice and lumpy

i see the white interior and instantly think of the horrible white vinyl jobs on hondas. I had the same choice once, and went with the black and don't regret it. I just got my seats leathered with inserts to make the seats more bucket style (front seats) it cost less than 1g for mint as leather, and the seats still look brand new 3yrs later.

hate the anti-smacking but sick of the "didn't do me no harm" point, which goes; a)how strong/frequent your childhood beatings were b)how you then became tough and disciplined c)that is why you are so great today
