  1. My car looks like that if I park it on the street on a weekend night.
  2. What self-respecting hairdresser would have a convertible that would mess up their do every time they drive to a wine bar? They'd love a little tiny coupe with no back seats.
  3. Thanks, I do love it and hoping I don't have to flick it off to keep the tax man happy.
  4. It's easy to pick on older cars (just about anything by AMC was horrendous!) but how about new stuff... Kudos to apex for admitting the Megane is less than beautiful. I have a problem with these horrendous things... And BMW didn't cover themselves in glory with the X6 (making them in sh*t brown didn't help) I also struggle to see the beauty in Porsche Cayennes as well (probably made worse by some of the people that drive them) But perhaps my least favourite are those early 2000s Subaru Imprezas... Foul
  5. +1! Bet it's an awesome car to drive... But I couldn't bring myself to get in it, even though I'm about due for a midlife crisis.
  6. Yes, been thinking about brunch's one! Thanks
  7. ACS... The others don't suit it IMHO.
  8. Guess it depends where in the UK it's from. I grew up there and can count on one hand the number of times my local roads required salting in 20+ years! If it's from North of the Watford Gap, it's probably fooked.
  9. So my better half just sent a picture of it... Silver. Pity I can't enjoy it 'til I get back to NZ on Wednesday!
  10. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=570651060 Have had some bad luck lately and money's a bit tight so thinking we may have to become a single car family. My beloved E39 would have to be the sacrificial lamb but, if so, I'd really like to convince the wife to flick the Mazda 6 wagon and pick up a nice motorsport E39 wagon. PS Message me if you're interested in my sedan... PICS.
  11. No worries. Probably my previous, previous post made me sound like I didn't know my ass from my elbow.
  12. Might have been the same car... But not me driving. It's getting dropped off to us tomorrow. Unfortunately, I've got to go to Sydney early so won't get to play around with it until Wednesday.
  13. Yeah, I know it's not chrome. I meant the chrome finish can be difficult to paint... Haven't come across etch primer. What is it?
  14. That's about $60 more than me, Tom! Might have to hide the keys when they want them back!! hah
  15. Thanks! Would love to but will need to win another lotto-shaped competition before that's possible. It's going to make my E39 feel a bit careworn, that's for sure.
  16. No idea if that's the one we'll get - it was the pic on their Facebook site - I quite like it but wouldn't be my choice if I was buying.
  17. Thought painting chrome could be a bit hit and miss as it can be hard to prep without the chrome peeling, etc?! Might be an option and probably way cheaper than replacing.
  18. Not sure! Will find out Monday I think. I'll be in Aus for a few days so the missus will get first dibs on it. heheh Wouldn't that be awesome... Though I suspect it'll be an auto - not sure what the competition rules say about tracking the car! :ph34r:haha Be fun to come to the track day anyway though and happy to bring it. Hampton Downs?
  19. Despite my wife believing my E39 is the 'other woman' she very thoughtfully entered a competition to win a new 3-series tourer for a month... And won! Can't wait but it's going to make my E39 feel a little bit old fashioned when I have to give it up in a month!! Will review and photograph in due course.
  20. Thanks. If it was proper shadowline trim I wouldn't change it but it's vinyl-wrapped chrome. It's hard to tell from a distance but I think it looks a bit DIY up close.
  21. Yep, black looks heaps better! Incidentally, I have some brand new black E39 floor mats with beige trim. Would look great if you choose to go down this route.
  22. Oh yeah... Also have a multifunction steering wheel in good condition (like this one): bump
  23. It seems the younger fellas like the shadowline... Thinking perhaps the chrome is probably more suitable for an elderly chap like myself.
  24. Actually, Tony, it does thanks! I like both too, so happy to go back to chrome so I don't have any sh*tty bits of vinyl wrap on my car until I can source some genuine gloss black trim!
